washing baby stuff
When do you all plan on washing the baby clothes. Do you wash stuff that is new, still in the package? TIA

Re: washing baby stuff
I never washed anything. I don't see the need to wash things in packages and I know I don't wash clothes before I put them on. Jiavana turned out just fine. lol I hate doing wash.

Re: washing baby stuff
i wasnt going to wash anything until about my 39 week but since they think i am going early i did it yesterday (almost done with my 37th week). i only washed her sheets, and all of her NB & 0-3 month onesies. i dont think i am washing any of her other clothes that go on top of the onesies. i dont know if there is really a point.

Re: washing baby stuff
I answered you on the parenting board....
I would wash the baby's clothes first, its been sitting in those packages for God knows how long, and they just dont smell nice if there not washed first. It also makes them feel softer if they are washed.
I still wash all of Julia's new clothes before she wears them, and shes 17 months!

Re: washing baby stuff
Speaking from experience, I wouldn't wash everything all at once. Maybe allow 2-3 onsies/day for 1st week or so. I washed so much stuff before DS was born and ended up not using everything. I could have exchanged a lot of stuff for larger sizes or even diapers, if I didn't open them. I found that I did laundry 1-2 times a week so I didn't need so many items.
I washed everything until Nate was 6 months. Now at 18 months, I only wash onsies before I put them on him.

Re: washing baby stuff
I was very happy that I didn't wash anything - I had to return SO much and even stuff that DS fit into, it was hard to use all the size before he grew out of it.

Re: washing baby stuff
I washed everything except for clothes that are for 6 months and up that I got at my shower. everything else though I did even if in the package and looked like it wasnt touched, I have seen so many people open up packages just to feel the fabric and Im a germ phobic like that. Also in the warehouse, did a mouse walk all over that package? is there a pin hole I cant see on the package? I worked in a clothing store many moons ago and saw first hand how clothes appear clean and they are not.
