washing the babys clothes/bedding

so i have been told that the babys clothes/bedding ect need to be washed with dreft.
then i have others telling me it really does not have to be .

are you washing the clothes/bedding ect in dreft?

i was thinking at least the 1st wash should be done with dreft then after i can use regular detergent

Re: washing the babys clothes/bedding

I don't know what the general rule is now, but with my family and all the babies we just used regular detergent unless they were allergic.

I have to do some research on the topic, but sometimes I feel as though things like this are the product of genius people in the marketing department.

We already use Purex Free & Clear so we'll probably just use that or get the Purex Baby.

I started out using Dreft, but once I finished that bottle I used All Free and Clear or Tide Free. I would be hesitant to use regular detergent for a newborn b/c their skin is so sensitive.

Re: washing the babys clothes/bedding

We started out using Dreft since I had gotten some at my shower. But it's pretty pricey so we switched to Tide Free and Clear. Any of the free and clear detergents are fine.
I washed all of our clothing in the dreft and Free and Clear since you never know if DC is going to react to what you are wearing as well if washed in a different detergent. I think I was in a big minority that did that though

We're not using dreft. We're using the free and clear regular detergent. You have to see which detergent works best for you and your baby. some babies and kids have more sensitive skin than others. With my DD i couldn't use dreft because she would break out but i could use regular detergent, go figure.

Re: washing the babys clothes/bedding

I will most likely just get a small bottle of dreft to do the inital wash but then I will use regular detergent. I am a firm believer that you have to see what works best for yourself but your baby will only know what you introduce.

I don't particularly like Dreft. I always use Tide. Recently, I switched over to Tide Free and don't mind it. It still gets out stains like regular Tide, so I figure I will use it for baby clothes too.

I received a bottle of Dreft at my shower. I'll be using that but once it's done I'll be switching to All Free and Clear.

I'm using All Free & Clear. I already use it because DH & I have such sensitive skin. Dreft is the same idea - free of dyes and perfumes - just A LOT more expensive.

Re: washing the babys clothes/bedding

I'm using generic Dreft that I got at Target at first, then All Baby. If the baby's skin doesn't break out from being up against our clothes during that period of time, I'm just going to start using my regular Tide.
