Water shoes

I bought water shoes for the whole family at Modell’s. They were the body glove type and not super expensive. $14.99 for the adults and $9.99 for the kids (and they were buy one get one 50% off). Well I guess you get what you pay for. Took them to the beach. I guess I thought the sand would come out of them? Not only did it not come out but when it’s wet it’s really hard to get the sand out. It was like glue. DH was cursing up a storm. We walked to the car barefoot. It was a hot mess.

Are there any good water shoes out there? Didn’t want to pay a fortune since the kids will grow out of them by the end of summer but also don’t want crap like I just bought.

I get them cheap at Walmart every year. Never had a problem. But I expect to get sand in my water shoes at the beach Chat Icon I get like 3 pairs for the kids each year. One for camp, one for home, one for grandpas house. I like the children’s place ones too, but this year I happened to like the Walmart ones better. Last year we got the cat and jack ones from target too and those were fine as well

DD (3) just wears regular crocs. I don’t like soft soles in case she steps on something. Her teacher has mentioned that she prefers the crocs on the kids for water play because they’re sturdy.

On the rare occasion DH or I are near a pool or beach we just wear flip flops.

Re: Water shoes

Those style water shoes always have sand in them. You are just supposed to wear them and not take them off. I get them if we have a summer planned where we are walking through mud and dirt to get to a lake or are climbing rather than car, beach, water type of summer. Once they dry you can knock the sand off. For the beach I get crocs for all of us.

Re: Water shoes

The only time I would wear water shoes would be for rocky bays. And in that case you want a hard soled bottom like a Croc.
For the beach, we just wear flip flops.
You can't prevent sand in any shoes at the beach

They are all like that, we just rinse them out, and some sand still remains. Once it dries, it just pours out!

Re: Water shoes

I know you are looking for inexpensive ones for kids but if you are ever looking for ones for adults, look into Floafers. They come in kids sizes, but it's true, they grow out of them so fast and paying more than $20 feels like a waste. The kids ones are $35

You can find Floafers at West marine and they are actually available on Amazon too. They are awesome water shoes. They float and you can wear them to dinner lol Check them out. My DH has a pair, my nephew and his dad have them too.

Water shoes

My kids live in these, and they are easier to get on and off than aqua socks. These are oshkosh but they have a knockoff on amazon, too.

We also got ours at Walmart. We have had them for years and never had a problem.

I have water shoes for kayaking that I got on Amazon. I just lift the inner flap up and the sediment from the bottom of the lake comes right out. I usually wait until they’re dry though.

Re: Water shoes

I sent in crocs to DD's summer program instead of water shoes (they asked for water shoes or shoes that can get wet).
