Waterpark on Randall's Island?
My friend told me they're planning on building an indoor/outdoor waterpark called "Spalsh City" on Randall's island. It would be open year round.
Does anyone know anything about this?

Re: Waterpark on Randall's Island?
I heard something about this on the news yesterday...I seriously thought I heard them wrong. I remember them saying it would be expected to open in 2008.
There's tons of articles...I just googled it. It was approved.
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/04/12/nyregion/12mbrfs.html MANHATTAN: COMMITTEE APPROVES WATER PARK The city's Franchise and Concession Review Committee approved a $128 million plan to build a water park on Randalls Island yesterday despite opposition from Comptroller William C. Thompson Jr. Mr. Thompson has maintained that the development deal with Aquatic Development Group is illegal because it was not subject to competitive bids once the plan grew from a 12-acre, summer-only park in 1999 to a 26-acre, year-round park. John Siegel, a lawyer for the New York Water Park L.L.C., a real estate development company that operates the Seagate Beach Club in Brooklyn, said the firm had been interested in developing a water park on Randalls Island, but had been shut out. The Parks and Recreation Department, which would oversee the water park, said the city had followed proper procedures. TIMOTHY WILLIAMS (NYT)
