Waverly Park in Holtsville
Does anyone know the area Waverly Park in Holtsville? Its a townhouse community and looks relatively close to the LIRR in Ronkonkoma. If so (AND only if you know the area): -how far to the LIRR Ronkonkoma Station -how is the area (safety, general area) -how does it compare to Holbrook/Ronkonkoma/Lake Ronkonkoma -is it electric heat because I believe (if I'm reading it right) its oil heat which we would prefer
They are priced about 20K less than Woodgate Village in Holbrook but with only 1 bathroom (not 1.5). Its all about the location to the LIRR. I know they are both in Sachem Schools which is great for our needs. Please help. Thanks

Re: Waverly Park in Holtsville
nope, they are townhouses/condos, not co-ops.
Waverly Park here are some listings
listing 1
listing 2
listing 3
The 3 bedrooms are the same price as Woodgate in Holbrook but the two bedrooms are more affordable (minus .5 bathroom but cheaper taxes & maintance). We may check them out if and ONLY IF they are close to LIRR.

If the complex is close to Nichols Rd, then you can get to the LIE and the Ronkonkoma station pretty quick. The more side roads you need to take the longer your ride to Ronkonkoma will be.Holtsville to Ronkonkona Station
Hopefully the link works now.

Re: Waverly Park in Holtsville
yea, that's what we think. We are meeting a realtor in two weeks to show us some starter homes (obviously I'm not signing, I'm the daughter of an attorney and have been taught well). We just can't afford the big renovations like roof, plumbing, etc right away and it seems like the homes in our price range need that stuff, but we aren't ruling it out. This weekend we're hitting up the area looking for open houses in there and Woodgate again. DH loves Woodgate and we were so against looking a little further east, but if its the same drive to LIRR it doesn't make a difference.

Re: Waverly Park in Holtsville
Kerry, I drove through there a couple of times and its pretty much right off the LIE on Waverly Ave - exit 61. The ronkonkoma train station is off of exit 60, so I can't imagine its too far from there. I didn't go inside any of the units, but from the oustside I thought nob hill in ronkonkoma looked nicer. The Waverly park development is accross the street from an industrial park. Definitely go check it out though.
ETA: don't give up on a house - we're in the same price range as you and found a house that doesn't need all those huge things right away. Although we did go a little further east than I know you want to go.

We can't go further east and DH & I don't really care for Nob Hill anymore (especially since we can get 2 bedroom townhouse in Holbrook for around the same price).
We're still looking at houses but we are def. going to check it out. Thanks!

Re: Waverly Park in Holtsville
A freind of mine lived there for a long time, on Storm Drive, which comes up on "map property" on your first listing. He liked it there. He moved out of state for work. It is very nice, not as centrally located as some parts of Ronkonkoma and Holbrook. It's a pretty quiet area. Not too far from Ronkonkoma LIRR. I don't really know the other condos in Holbrook so I cannot compare.
