WAYYYYYYYY TMI inside - enter at your own risk

So I posted a few minutes ago about how my cycle was a little longer than normal last month. I'm not sure if anyone would remember, but I was concused as to when I should start with day 1 (there was some brownish-red spotting for about 5 days, then nothing, then heavy AF)

It's the heaviness of the AF that is concerning me. In August and again in September, I have never seen anything like this. I was going through a super + tampon AND a pad within an hour, and (here's the TMIChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon ) there were HUGE clots, like nothing I have ever seen before. I'm talking when I peed Chat Icon there was things falling out and hitting the toiletChat Icon (I can't believe I just wrote that).

The main reason this is sending flags up in my brain is that we only really started *trying* trying for those 2 months. July was a whatever month for us. What if something is getting fertilized and then not taking?

I'm going to ask my gyno at my appt next week - I don't know really what my question here is, aside from the fact that I'm nervous. Chat Icon

Sooooooooooooo sorry about the TMIChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Don't feel bad! This is not TMI.

Clots are pretty normal during heavy AFs.

I actually asked my RE about this yesterday!

He said that I shouldn't really be concerned, but to keep an eye on it and if it got really bad, then call. I only had one big clot and a few smaller ones, so I didn't worry too much!Chat Icon

oh sweety - don't feel bad - i truly don't think that there's anything as TMI anymore....seriously...

You have an appointment....so write it all down and talk to the doc! As MAM said - she spoke to her RE about it and he said it's okay....

Well.....I don't want to worry you and I am certainly no expert, but this month I had a mc at 5 wks PG. Basically I started bleeding about 5 days later than I should have and there was a lot of what you described. I spotted for a day, then the next day a lot of clotting, coming out when urinating (much more so then my regular AF) etc. Thats when I new I had mc and went to the dr. Again, I don't want to scare you and this was the first mc for me so I don't know much about it, but you were asking so I am telling.......that doesn't mean thats what it is for you.

I think that even chemical pregnancies, which that would be if something is fertilizing and not sticking- you would still get a positive on an HPT. Have you been testing?

I've had these "clots" before when AF gets really heavy. Definitely mention it to your doctor though. Don't be nervous.Chat Icon Chat Icon

This was my theory too. I tested at 12 DPO and got a BFN - that was Wednesday. On Friday I started AF and it was heavy Friday and Saturday. Sunday it was heavy also and that's when I got the huge clot which had me worried.

I didn't test because I assumed that when I started spotting on the first day (almost a week before the clots) I was automatically out. Everything in my brain told me that I was pregnant, though. I was totally convinced (moreso than normal)

The clotting lasted for 2 days and then tapered off to virtually nothing. AF usually sticks around for a good week. Chat Icon

Re: WAYYYYYYYY TMI inside - enter at your own risk

I would definitely talk to your doctor- but I wouldn't be surprised if he had no answers for you, either.

The clotting, while not unusual for some, seems strange b/c it's not been there in the past for you (and heavy clotting is def. a sign of early m/c.) Coupled with the fact that AF is showing up late (I don't think a spotting before really counts) makes it seem like there could be something more going on.

The only way you would know, though, is if you test next time (if it happens again) using a sensitive test to see if you are in fact pregnant and it's not sticking....

Re: WAYYYYYYYY TMI inside - enter at your own risk

I get those horrible clots on every period..since I was 11...so I guess I'm no help.

When I had my chemical my period was just a few days longer...and consistantly heavy throughout.

Re: WAYYYYYYYY TMI inside - enter at your own risk

before I was on BCP & even now after, I have the same thing you are describing. When I was on BCP, I didn't get them or have a heavy period. I did mention it to the RE & he said it was nothing to worry about. Clots are actually normal for a cycle. I have to wear a super + tampon along with a pad for the first 24 hours where I am changing every 2.5 hours. But then it slows down & the clots become distant & far between

Thanks girls! Chat Icon

I was just concerned because I've been off the pill for 3 years and NEVER had clots like this until we started trying, so I thought they might have been related Chat Icon
