We are BAD parents
DH and I were having ice cream outside with our tenants in the backyard - Molly was with us. We came inside and carried her in.
DH wanted to go to the front of the house to look at the landscaping he did. We went out there and she must have snuck out right behind us.
We came in - DH came in and went up and showered. I thought Molly was with DH. He came down after the shower - and I asked where she was - he said "WITH YOU!" -- We started running around and she walked into our backyard and was sitting right outside the sliding doors.
We don't even have a collar on her right now - I am so upset with us!!!!

Re: We are BAD parents
That must have been so scary . I think Molly was just giving you a little reminder that her ID tags should be on in case she gets lost. . At least the good little girl didn't go too far.

Re: We are BAD parents
you aren't bad parents....its easy to lose track of these little guys. Just keep her collar on her now in case she decides to go for a stroll alone again lol
I'm glad she was just hanging out outside, these dogs really crack me up

Re: We are BAD parents
You are not bad parents at all. Molly was such a good girl to go to the backyard and wait by the sliding doors. You must be trainig her right because even with freedom she chose not to run away, but to stay!!!!!!

Re: We are BAD parents
I really felt so bad. The thing with the collar is - they say not to keep it on when she's in the house so we don't ---but then she just slipped out without us realizing. What to do!!!!!
She was so cute just sitting on the patio waiting to come in.

If you're home I'd keep it on, when you're not around take it off....or keep a harness on her with her id tags....just anything so if she slips out again, just to be safe
I think if Tyson ran out he'd be gone making friends with all the dogs in the neighborhood or woo-ing his girlfriend Sofie across the street, a 2yr old ShihTzu he has the hots for

You sure as hell know that Molly isn't running trying to make friends with the other pups on the block.

Re: We are BAD parents
Our trainer at Petsmart said not to keep the collar on them all the time. So did the groomer I took her to.

I am glad she is safe.
Which petsmart trainer did you use? Our trainer (Kim) told us to make sure that we have a comfy collar for Pyxie so that she can wear her tags all the time. I am glad that she is OK, but I am a little surprised that professionals would encourage you to not properly identify your dog

Maybe it wasn't Kim then - I thought it was. I know for sure it was the groomer because they said it tangles their hair. Nat - didn't you hear this too?

I believe Kim did say not to leave it on our dogs inside b/c they are little guys.

Re: We are BAD parents
Ahhh I see.....we do have the same issue with Pyxie, as she has along mane in the same way you'd see on a horse. There are rolled leather collars that will be less tangling to the hair. My mom uses this typr for her Japaneze Chin, which has very similar hair. For Pyxie I actually have her ID tags on a tiffany bracelet cuz it moves easily and does not tangle in her hair.
