We are going stroller shopping today...
Is there anything special I should be looking for when choosing a stroller? There seems to be so many to choose from, lightweight, midsize, full size. What is everyone getting?

Re: We are going stroller shopping today...
My stroller is the metrolite. I like it because it's large enough for my child to grow BUT it's not heavy at all. For me, being able to comfortably move/lift the stroller is HUGE because I'm a small woman.
With my first, someone bought me this huge "cadillac" of a stroller, I tried to use it 1 time and gave up. I couldn't legitimately pick it up post-partum either b/c it weighed too much so getting it back in my trunk was a real chore. I cancelled my original plans that day and went out and bought a lighter stroller. I also found the lighter/smaller stroller to be easier to maneuver!

I also registered for the Metrolite. Seemed that I could manuever it the best and it was extrememly light weight.

Re: We are going stroller shopping today...
after having a Graco Quattro Tour travel system....I'd advise going for lightweight. It's a great stroller, but gosh is it heavy for me.
Go for how easy it is to handle with a child in it, how sturdy it feels, think about how often you will use it, how easy it is for you to open/close/lift it by yourself.

Re: We are going stroller shopping today...
I got this one... Peg Perego centro...which I think is the same weight as the metrolite but a bit more difficult to fold...I just liked the look and quality 100x better.
eta: I didn't get the matching car seat, I got the graco snugride to use with the snap & go...the peg perego car seats seemed too heavy to me.

We got the snap n go for our snugride and we also got the 2007 Black (Ebano) Zippy by Inglesina. It is a one hand fold stroller and gets good reviews. It is comparable to the Peg Perego I think the Pilko 3.

Re: We are going stroller shopping today...
I am not sure what you are looking for but I will tell you what "I" was looking for.
- not more than 20 Lbs (found out that it was heavy enough to carry to put in the car) - Maneuverabiliy (very important for me and if I go to stores). - Ease of folding - Possiblity to put the seat in a flat position (if I go around to the park/walk around my block, I won't put the baby in the carseat. Just in the stroller).
I was going to buy the Bumbleride flyer (a great stroller) but bought a Graco travel system because I got it for a super deal. It's the Graco Passage. And I felt the compromise was VERY minimum.
I know people love the Graco Quatro but that was too heavy for me. The Metrolite has great reviews too and it also on the light side.

Re: We are going stroller shopping today...
The funny thing with strollers is that you never really know what you are going to need until after the baby is born and you have used the stroller for a good month or so..that way you'll see what your needs are.
My suggestions...
Fairly light weight Compact (especially if you drive a car and not an SUV or Minivan) One piece (except for travel systems) Easy to fold/unfold Large basket underneath for packages Cup holders for Mommy Tipability (the wider the wheel base the less it is likely to tip) Cleanability

Re: We are going stroller shopping today...
We looked and looked at different strollers. We decided to start with the Snap and Go, but the week before DS was born we decided to give the Bugaboo one last look. We were totally prepared to buy it, but then found the Bumbleride Flyer. It has the features of the Bugaboo that I loved, but folded in one piece (the thing about the Bugaboo that I hated is that it doesn't fold in one piece). Plus, it was half the price of the Bug!! DS loves it. It is as light as the snap and go, is easy to transport up and down the subway stairs and handles the terrain of NYC streets really well.
I would suggest that you give it a look at least.

We also got the bumbleride flyer. I love how sturdy it feels and you can by new/extra fabric parts easily of the original ones get worn out. I got it at my shower and have so much fun testing it out. The snugride also fits right onto the adapter bar (included.)

Re: We are going stroller shopping today...
we are going to start with gracco snug ride carseat and the snap and go frame and then a secondary stroller for when the baby is bigger - 6 months or so...
we like so far the gracco metrolite and the piko 3.... although i heard that there is a new piko for 200t that is even lighter...
i am all about it not being too heavy - i cant imagine lugging 30 pounds in and out of my trunk every day..
