We are going to the Fertility Urologist on Thursday...
(So sorry for the length. .. I am just super nervous and I was hoping for some reassurances... )
.....To discuss Dh's low motility and stuff. What should I expect? Do you think they are going to spend most of the time talking about reasons for the low motility or will they talk about options.. i.e., IUI etc.
I am really really nervous. Dh is super duper nervous. I just wish I had some idea of how the conversations will go. I know they will probably want to do a repeat sample. Should we bd tonight so he has his two days of obstaining when he gets there on Thursday? Or is planning for that a waste of time? The thing is that Thursday is CD 9 and if they want him to do a sample for that Monday that would be CD13.. right around Oing time and I want to save those swimmers all for me. So I was just hoping for some advice from BTDT ladies.
Also, if they decide that IUI is the way to go.. do I have to through tons of tests too? Or do they just assume all is well since I have been getting Positive OPk's, had a m/c in October, and have symptoms of ovulation?
TIA

Re: We are going to the Fertility Urologist on Thursday...
When my dh went the doctor asked him a whole bunch of questions: history, lifestyle, medications and alcohol abuse/cigs. Than he did an exam and sent my dh for a sample. He also asked me a bunch of questions, than he advised us on what the best option in his opinion was.
good luck!!!
sorry I don't have any other answers for you.

Re: We are going to the Fertility Urologist on Thursday...
First off, good luck at the doctor appointment. The doc will probably want to take a full history and examine your DH. A repeat SA will probably be done but not necessarily at that apointment. I am sure that you and DH can decide when that SA is done. Most docs will let you produce a sample at home and bring it in to be analyzed.
As for treatments, if IUI is recommended, you will need to see a RE. You will decide how much or how few tests you go through. You can always start off with tracking your ovulation with OPK and then go in for IUI when you get your positive. GL!

I don't know much about the stuff you're asking- but I know when my DH got his SA done- his morphology was very low. They told us that something as simple as DH having a cold or sickness a couple of months ago could affect his swimmers now. HTH- def. ask them if something like that could have an impact on his #s.

Thanks everyone. I hope we get some answers on Thursday. We didn't get to BD on Monday so he won't give a sample on Thursday regardless. So that's that. I guess we just have to wait and see how it goes.

Good luck tomorrow! When we went for our first consult, the doctor took histories from both of us. Then he sent DH for a SA which needed to be completed before our next appt.
