We are going to try out our new pellet stove today!
Its all hooked up(finally), we just need pellets. Its so dreary & damp today, I can't wait to warm things up!
We bought it at Lowes & DH installed it. Our goal is to keep both of our thermostats for our oil heat on 50 degrees & heat our house almost exclusively with the pellet stove. I'll post a better review after we use it.
Eff big oil!!!!!

Wow, that is a really great idea. I can't wait to hear about it.
We have a wood burning stove and we plan to use it this winter even more than last year. DH stocked up on wood.

Re: We are going to try out our new pellet stove today!
Our next door neighbor have one attached to their wood burning fireplace. They heated their whole house last winter only with wood and paid only $40 bucks a month to the natural gas company. They just got their delivery of wood for the winter yesterday. WOW. It was a TON of wood.
Anyway, DH and I are thinking about this too. If not this winter, maybe next. It is a big investment and will pay over time, but the outlay is expensive to attch it to your fireplace and vent it through your central heating system.
Let us know how it works out.

My mom has a wood burning stove, and when i went there today, we fired it up.
It definitely is a huge help in heating the house. She barely uses any oil!

Kelly did you have any trouble finding the pellets? My Brother put on in his house (also from Lowes) and last I heard fom my SIL they were having trouble getting a delivery.

Re: We are going to try out our new pellet stove today!
Fran-lowes is having a really hard time getting pellets. I got mine from Rella Coal in Medford Also Agway in Riverhead should be getting them in soon. There are a few online places that deliver them too.
It's going great so far. It was 45 degrees outside this morning and 67 degrees in my house with the pellet stove on its lowest setting. We cranked it up for a little while and it went up to 74 degrees on the first floor within 15 minutes. It was a little warmer outside by then as well. It seems to be burning really efficiently, it barely used any pellets overnight.
A pellet stove is different than a wood stove, but both are better than buying oil!!!!
