We are home!
Hi Everyone!
We have been home for about a week now- but I haven't really been up too much...
I put photos of our new baby girl in my photo album...
My album
She was born at St. Charles via a planned c-section because she was in a breach position. The section went okay, but was a bit scary. The dr couldnt get the epi in the correct place (it took over 30 minutes of poking) and finally had to call another doctor in to do it, who then took 30 seconds. That was the most painful and scary part. Once everything was numb, they let DH in and I felt MUCH better having him there with me to hold my hand. It went so fast- all of a sudden I heard a baby crying and she was there! After they closed me up (which seemed to take forver), they brought us to recovery for a while, where we got to hold the baby. They then took her to the nursery to warm her up. I didnt expect to be without her for so long- but we had our family there to keep us occupied. The nurses at St. Charles were absolutely fabulous- there was only one that I could have done without... I was also really lucky because the floor wasnt crowded so I didn't have a roommate for the first few nights that I was there. I also wasnt 100% impressed with the LC- i got more help from the nurses- and she only visited twice, but I still felt clueless about nursing and had a ton of questions- but the nurses helped. Also, if you are planning on nursing- the breast pump is a lot cheaper in the hospital then from BRU- i also got a $20 off coupon from my dr's office.
I definitely over packed my hospital bag- i wore the hospital gown for the first two days, but once they took the cathiter out, i couldnt wait to get some real undies on- i was SO happy that I went out and bought granny panties, because i really didnt realize just how low the scar would be... I was also SO happy to have hard candies with me- you dont realize how sore your throat can get from talking to people. I was also very happy that I brought my boppy with me as well as my nursing bras. A lot of people said to wait until after to buy them because you dont know what size you will be- i had purchased two that I actually wore throughout my pregnancy. They were so helpful to have- especially once my milk came in- i felt like i got implants!! I also found it helpful to have nursing pjs from motherhood maternity. It made feeding a lot easier since I was so sore from the c-section. Plus, one came with a matching robe, which was great to have for when visiting hours rolled around. Something however that was on NO lists that I wish I would have brought were EAR PLUGS! I got a roommate the last night and boy could she snore!! The nurse felt bad for me and brought some small gauze that I rolled up and stuck in my ears...
The c-section recovery has gone okay- i dont think I realized how long it would take to really feel better. The first week was especially frustrating for me because I was nursing and felt like it was so hard for me to take care of  and recover. You can't just hop out of bed when she starts crying to go get her... luckily DH has been a fabulous help-I think the first week I only changed 3 diapers!!
I still can't believe I'm a mommy and we created this beautiful little girl- it is amazing how long I could just stare at her and watch her little facial expressions...
