We are moving - Worried about Char, TIPS?
I need a bunch of ideas for how to get Charlotte used to her new home.
Problem #1: Char has lived with myself, Vinny, and my IL's since the first day we brought her home at just three months old. She is used to A LOT of attention. She requires it now! So, we are going to try and "make up for" the loss of two people constantly giving her love. Ideas on how? We know we need to give her daily walks, no matter what, twice a day. Anything else?
Problem #2: Obviously, she is used to living in the same type of environment (a full home) since she was three months old. She is now going to be moving into a Townhome - spacious at around 2,000 SF but still - a big change for her.
She sometimes can have the separation anxiety a bit - she is very attached to us which might be Problem #3 but who knows. What are some great methods for us to use in order to "introduce" her to the new home and have her get used to it and eventually love it and feel comfortable in it??
I will take any and all suggestions and I'm willing to try and try and try all of these methods!!! Thanks so much!!

Re: We are moving - Worried about Char, TIPS?
my guys are troopers- they lived in 4 places last year and they adjust - yours will too
it will take time
Maggie has been with me in 5 places
and pokey 4
(maggie made a stop off at a friends place last year and pokey came with me - until I got maggie a week later)
they normally hide in a closet or under the bed for a few days- until they feel safe- then they come out and start checking the place out
I always make sure to put all there "stuff" (toys, litter, food) in the same room for a few days- then slowly move it to it's final home

I moved Sadler OOS and into a new home and I read (I can't remember where) to take him around the neighborhood for long walks and let him take in the new scents. Same thing with the house. I would try and give her a bit more attention when settling in.
After a few weeks, Sadler adjusted very well. Good Luck and Congrats again on the house!

Dani, I am glad you asked this. We are house hunting too and I was wondering the same thing. So no advice, just hope it goes well for Char (and you both)!
