We booked our fall NC vacation last night!
We can't wait to go!
We're going to stay 4 nights in the Asheville area visiting the Great Smokey Nat'l Park and the Biltmore Estate
Then, we'll drive down to Charlotte to see the NASCAR Hall of Fame, take a tour of a few of the garages (Richard Childress and Hendrick Motorsports) and catch the NASCAR races - Dollar General Race and the Bank of American 500 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway!!!

Where did you end up booking in Asheville?
We went there for our 1st anniversary this year and had a wonderful meal at a restaurant called Bouchon. They don't take reservations, but if you go early, you won't have to wait.

We went there for our 1st anniversary this year and had a wonderful meal at a restaurant called Bouchon. They don't take reservations, but if you go early, you won't have to wait.
We booked the Sleep Inn since they offered us a package deal to see Biltmore and we could use our AAA rate as well.
Thanks for the restaurant recommendation.

That's excellent! We didn't end up going to the Biltmore because we were told it was $60 per person and that really was more than we were willing to do (they tried to say "but it's for two days" but we didn't want to go for two days). We went to Biltmore village for brunch on our anniversary instead and it was fun.
DH did a segway tour of Asheville. I tried to but was too dizzy and kept blacking out on it because I was just a few months pregnant and my m/s was horrible so I couldn't do the segway. It was actually less expensive than the Biltmore tickets, though! It's a really fun town -- very hippy-ish with lots of fun alternative types of shops.

Yes 
We tried to go to Tupelo Honey for breakfast one morning when we were there but it was super crowded and the wait would've made us late for our segway tour. We ate next door (I don't remember the name of the place) instead -- it was New Orleans' themed and very good too.

Mellow Mushroom is the real Asheville experience. Everyone has dreadlocks. A crazy scene in the middle of the mountains.
Tupelo Honey is really good!!

LOL, I think every Mellow Mushroom is like that -- at least the ones in Durham and Wake Forest are.
Tupelo Honey is probably the one place you HAVE to go to in Asheville. It's not that it's so amazing (but it is very good) -- it's just a fixture in their dining scene.
We also really liked Zabra? Zambra? I can't remember.
Lots of cute places in downtown Asheville. It's very walkable, so just park the car and window shop until you find something you'd like to try!
