We had an unexpected guest at dinner [pics]
We had a 2nd Thanksgiving dinner today with our in-laws and while I was sitting at the table, I looked out our back door, saw our guest and RAN for my camera to catch these:
I had to swap out my wide angle lens for my zoom lens and then manually focus it, change the f-stop and play with the flash... I finally got what I wanted on the last photo:
It's either a Coopers Hawk or a Sharp Shinned Hawk, I can never tell the difference, they're very similar. It (or another) has been by my backyard before but the last time I saw it, I only saw it's unmistakable tail as it flew away with a Mourning Dove that had been enjoying my bird feeders.
It's sad that it's there to hunt the birds I like to feed, but that's life. A Chickadee was in the same tree at the same time, very brave or very stupid bird!

Thats awesome. When I lived in Ma. We had them flying around all the time. I love the pic of the Hask looking right at you!

Great pics! A few years ago I had 2 Hawks that decided to make themselves at home on my fence. They were there for weeks! I totally don't live in an area that that would be expected! The neighbors loved it.
