We had our Hebrew Baby Naming and Baptism yesterday - most beautiful ceremony ever! Interfaith couples especially, I invite you to read...
My family is of Jewish ancestory and DH is Italian (Catholic ancestory). We are both very spiritual people, believe strongly in tradition and family. Hence why thanks to this site - we saw some people on here doing both a Naming and baptism celebration and decided to offer such a celebration to welcome our precious gift from God, our DD.
We had it in a private room at a restaurant. Close family and friends only. It was about 35 people. My sister and BIL were picked to be Godparents. Rev. Alison (she advertises on LIWeddings) who married us back last July - performed the ceremonies. She did an EXCELLENT job of summing up our values of family and raising DD with repect and to treat others as she would want to be treated. She spoke of where DD got her english name (her first name was from DH's maternal family name, her middle name from my maternal great grandmother) and then of her Hebrew name which was taken from my deceased grandmother on my paternal side. She blessed DD in the name of the Father, Son and Holy spirit and performed a baptismal ritual. Everyone (even those who raised a brow initially due to devout beliefs on either side or plain ignorance) praised us for such a tasteful and beautiful ceremony. DD was very tired though and slept through part of it, until everyone clapped... then she woke up like "why are these people making noise when I'm trying to sleep".
To those who are in interfaith relationships and sick of "how are you going to raise your children" with a judgemental tone... I highly recommend such a celebration of life, unity and family. Both sides of our family were very impressed and everyone had a great time and I think it summed up just how we are going to raise our children.

Thank you. Wish I could post some photos, but I always have trouble posting pics on this site for some reason. If I can at some point I will. She looked so beautiful.

Thank you for posting this. We are doing something similar when our baby is born. The "how are you going to raise your child" question makes me crazy...we'll make it work.

I always respond with "I will raise my child to be a good, respectful, thoughtful and considerate person, who helps those in need, who seeks to put others before herself, who volunteers to help those who need her help (and this includes all of God's creatures - human, feline, canine, etc.) and to believe in God and His love for ALL those he has created". You will absolutely make it work b/c you have love in your lives.
