We have a climber..... now what!!!

DS has finally figured out how to climb the armchair in the LR.

The problem. I can't let him stay on them. He has not figured out yet that leaning head first is NOT good.

I have done a few saved trips to the ER so far but that's kind of scary. He has no sense of danger. He just lean forward like if he is on the floor. I caught him "in the air" on his way falling.

How did you handle this?

I taught DS how to turn around and go feet first, on his belly, to get off of things. He uses it for EVERYTHING now. Off the bed safely! He climbs up and down his stroller, up and down the couch. We don't have to get scared everytime he's up on the couch now.

He knows how to do that. He just leans on the chair like he is not aware of the space.

Like he climbs with his blanket then dives his head into the blanket "forgetting" there is nothing to hold him when he leans forward.

This I don't know. DS is not a diver.

Emma used to do that, I think it's just a phase and after a while they "get it"

Going through same thing.. luckily dont have a recliner and shes never on the couch.. but she does this with her little play couch. So far weve been lucky no really injury but its like she has no fear.. and thats scarey.
