We have ants ,out of nowhere, what do I do? (worried about DD)

All of a sudden past 2 days we noticed that we have ants in the house we had the problem last summer, but the exterminator came and they were gone, no problem since then. But they are baaaack I only saw few so far, but that's how it started last year.
They are mainly in the TV room where we spend most of the time with DD .
I am afraid to get the exterminator bc of all the chemicals they use.
Is there anything else I can do

Gotta have them spray again.. Pretty much every year you will have to have it done.. i think its somethign taht will keep coming back.

We had a couple little ones around the our sink. We signed up for a contract with Terminex. I'm really happy we did, ants were gone the same day and we have had not had a problem with anything since. Our contract covers everything, pretty much.

OHHH I feel your pain. We have ants everywhere, we totally need an exterminator. I started w/ant traps and believe it or not, within 2-3 days they were gone. But I took them away and the ants were back in a couple of days so if you get some, leave them out!! DH also sprayed the outside of the house w/some stuff he bought at home depot.

We just went through this.
No way was I having chemicals in the house. DH did some research on line... Here's an excerpt of what he found... I'm sorry I don't have the site, I retyped it.

Natural home remedies for getting rid of ants...

Set out cucumber slices or peels at the ant's point of entry. Many ants have a natural aversion to cucumber.

Leave a few bags of mint tea near the area the ants seem most active. Dry, crushed mint leaves or cloves work as ant deterrents.

Trace the ant column back to the point of entry. Set any of the following items in a small line, which ants do not cross: cayenne pepper, citrus oil (can be soaked on a piece of string), lemon juice, cinnamon, or coffee grounds.

Cormeal or grits do some serious damage. Scatter it dry around countertops. When the ants eat it, and drink a bit of water, it expands and... well you can guess the rest.

For outside we used boric acid and sprinkled it around the foundation of the house.

My exterminator put down a clear glue like substance thing all along our kitchen walls. Completely oderless & no spray. And it worked like a charm.

Im not sure if you guys have Ant-X over there...if you do you could get some of that put a drop or 2 in an empty pop can and put it somewhere out of your DC's reach (but still were the ants are if possible) the ants will go in eat it and then take it back to the nest...no more ants...takes a few days to work but we did that a couple summers ago and it worked that summer and we havent had them since...prob. just pure luck but im glad we havent had them again!
