We have progress at 40 weeks, 2 days!!
Yesterday was 1-2 centimeters and 50% effacted...Today is 2-3 centimeters and 80% effaced! Doc stripped my membranes and said it could be any minute now.

Can I ask you a question? What does it mean to "strip your membranes?" Does the OB routinely do this? Is this something I should ask about? Are there any risks to it? Tomorrow is my last OB visit b/f I will be induced. I've been 3cm and 70% effaced for over a week now.... TIA!

Thanks!! Hope so! I am no expert, but basically during the internal exam, he used his finger to remove/loosen the membrane that is keeping the cervix closed? Something like that. He explained it, but I was a little overwhelmed by everything going on. It was really uncomfortable, but I really didn't care; just felt like a more intense internal exam.
Anyway, it caused me to bleed, and I've been spotting since then (for about 4 hours). He said to expect it and that it should help to move things along. Definitely ask about it tomorrow. I'm not sure if there are any risks...try Googling it. He also keeps telling me to have sex b/c apparently a man's semen has a similar hormone in it as Cervadil which softens your cervix. He said that it is the best way to get labor started if you're already dilated.
