We observed Johnny's preschool today
...and it was VERY bittersweet. The only way I can describe it.
The children in the class are now close to 3 years old and started when they were johnny's age (almost 2).
I went from feeling upset at knowing we were at a "special needs" school to feeling really happy b/c he loved it, lol
He wanted to join circle time they were having...he sat in a chair and looked at all the kids clapping and speaking...he was loving every minute of it.
The teacher is wonderful and such a committed man. He told us that the kids are all different..some have motor delays, some only speech and some sensory and speech etc...and they really fit the needs individually. It was so nice and it made my heart happy to know that he would be OK there.
I'm still a bit sad..I mean, who WANTS for their kid to have to need extra help...BUT I am accepting and really ready for september!!
**On a selfish side...I don't know what I'm going to do with 23 extra hours/week to myself!! I am a bit excited as I feel I really need this as much as him
Thanks for reading

Wanted to add..
These kids who started as non verbal (most of them) and no attention span 2 year olds were sitting, learning, reciting letters and numbers and were so engaged as 3 year olds It was incredible. I was so happy for these kids...it gave me so much hope!

Re: We observed Johnny's preschool today
one more thing...
There is NOTHING in the world like seeing your husband cry over his son...not to turn my happy thread sad...but he stepped out of the room and was walking away...I caught up with him and saw he was crying. He is so overwhelmed by all of this..he is such a great man..the love he has for johnny is amazing and I know we were made to be his parents for a reason! He would kill me if he knew i wrote this..
