We started cereal for real yesterday!

My little guy will be 4 months on July 2! His dr. had told us we could put a little in his bottle, b/c the kid was eating 3-4 5oz bottles of BM in a 2-3 hour period and was STILL hungry. Well, yesterday, after listening scream after he finished his 3rd bottle in one hour, I sat him in his highchair and gave him cereal! He LOVED it! It was a little confusing for him at first and he had trouble with the spoon, but he got used to it! He was so satisfied he just sat there laughing like a drunk when he was done! And he slept from 7pm until 7am!!!!!!!Chat Icon

Please dont bash me for starting early. I did what I really felt was right. I didnt start my dd on cereal until she was 6 months, and I didnt even want to start him until 9 months or so. Yeah right!

We started DS at 4 months as well. Some little ones need more than just formula or breast milk.
Congratulations on sleeping 12 hours!Chat Icon

No bashing here. From what I have read, there are some signs that a baby is ready for cereal and they are not age related. They say when they weigh more than 13 lbs, can sit up assisted, drink more than 32 oz a day and have lost the tongue thrust reflex, they are ready. Some bigger babies need to be satisfied.

Cereal is fun!!

Bashing? I gave John cereal at 3 months, or maybe he was just shy of 3 months. He was hungry and formula just wasnt doing it.

You know what your baby wants Chat Icon

I started DS on cereal this week, he just turned 3 months. I was hesitant my my ped said that he was showing all the signs......and they were basically the ones you listed. He loves his cereal and is such a happy boy now after he eats!!!

Does your DS sit up? Emma is three months and isn't even close to sitting up unassisted. Although her adjusted is age is really 2 months.

I wouldn't judge. I also started James early, and it was the best thing. He was a starving little boy. I'm glad your son loved it and was satisfied! Sounds like you did the right thing.
