We took Emily to church today...
She has this fascination with God.
She loves to pray.
She does the sign of the cross and puts her hands together ALL the time and says "Let's Pray, Mommy."
And while I'm not the most religious person in the world, I always said that I would let my child decide if they wanted religion in their life or not.
She always asks to go inside when we drive by churches, so today we finally took her to Mass.
She LOOOOVED it.
Everytime the congregation did the sign of the cross, she looked at me with this big grin as if she was thinking "hey mommy, they're doing that same praying thing that I do!"
Plus she kept telling me how pretty the church was, and loved the singing.
I think I have to take her more often. She seems to WANT to go....so even though it's not so much my thing, if she enjoys it I am not going to keep it from her.
One thing that I thought was odd....we went to the 10am mass and there was barely anyone there! I would say the church was only about 1/4 full. It was also the childrens/family mass and very few children were there. There were a lot of older people.
I am wondering how many people out there take their kids/toddlers to mass on a regular basis!

That is so sweet!! We are very traditional Catholics, so we will be taking DS to church every Sunday. He is only 10 days old though, so we plan on waiting until he is 2-3 months.

Re: We took Emily to church today...
that is GREAT! WE always say grace before dinner and Alyson has been saying a big AMEN almost since she could talk! It's even funnier when she says Let's Eat after it!

That's great that she enjoyed it so much.
We take the boys to church regularly. If it weren't for the them, we probably wouldn't go as often. Before we had kids knew we wanted to give them the same faith-based upbringing that we both had. When they grow up they can decide it they want to continue.

How beautiful to see a child raised in faith. You must have been incredibly proud. It gives me lots of hope for the future - regardless of what religion it is.
DH and I plan to raise our daughter in the Jewish faith. We want to make it fun for her so she is not turned off to it as many people can be. I truly look forward to all of her religious milestones.

We are raising our children Episcopalians and we take our daughter regularly to church. We started taking her when she was about a month old. Our church is very child friendly and she loves it there. I honestly can't say she gets the whole G-d thing yet but she is comfortable there.

We take DD to church most Sundays and at 9 months she already loves it. She loves clapping during signing, etc.

THat is great!!
I wish I could take Ryan. He can't sit still for second and would be very loud,so there is no way I can take him yet.
I go periodically to mass on Sundays, and it's sad how small the congregation is sometimes. I remember that 10am mass was so packed when I was younger, people would be standing the in back! Now, different story.
