Weaning advice needed for EBF Baby.
I could really do with some advice..DD will turn one in a couple of weeks and she has been EBF since birth. She has been using a sippy cup with water for a few weeks now and while she does spill some she is able to manage it.
I am not too worried about the daytime feedings as I will cut them out gradually...the problem I am anticipating is night time.
DD sleeps with us - long story but that is where we are at for now. She feeds out of comfort a few times each night. She does use a pacifier so I have tried to give her that when she goes for the boob, have tried wearing a tshirt to bed so she cannot get near them so easy, have tried putting a soft toy between us...but each and every time she will get into such a temper if she cannot get near them!!!and I give in as I need sleep...
So what can I do about my little boob obsessed DD
Thanks

Just curious on your reasons for wanting to wean... the advice will vary depending on the urgency.

Re: Weaning advice needed for EBF Baby.
It sounds like she is just eating in the middle of the night out of habit. I know it's easier to just give in because you need sleep, but the sooner you get her out of eating in the middle of the night, the better. I know it's really hard, so I wish I had some advice for you on how to do it!

Re: Weaning advice needed for EBF Baby.
Thanks...I am not saying I have to wean her straight away its just that I feel like I want to start weaning her at least off her night feeds and then I will progress to other feeds...I know it will take time and as I have no clue where to start I thought I might get some ideas here from other BTDT moms
...anyone have any good book recommendations for this?
TIA

Congrats on this amazing accomplishment. I only pumped so my weaning was different. You might have to change spots with DH and have him closer to the baby at night to avoid the feedings.

Re: Weaning advice needed for EBF Baby.
Have you tried putting her in her crib? Having her food source right next to her when she wakes up during the night probably isn't helping. I don't cosleep though, so I don't know. When I wanted James to stop feeding in the middle of the night, I went in his room when he would start crying and I comforted him back to sleep instead of feeding him. It took a couple of nights, but he got the hang of it. Good luck!
