weaning off progesterone
today is the first day I am starting to "wean off" the crinone and I'm super nervous! My RE told me to wean off at 7 weeks, I thought that was a bit early so I talked to my OB and he told me to start weaning at 10 weeks.. i am still really scared though. For those of you on progesterone that weaned off did you notice anything different afterward?

Re: weaning off progesterone
I remember that, I was so nervous to do anything different, didn't want to 'rock the boat'!
My RE said to stop around 10 weeks, I think I went to 11 and then stopped. I don't remember feeling any different (except for a much less painful bottom!!)
Good luck!!

Re: weaning off progesterone
I was the happiest person to get off prog! My butt hurt and I was on 3x day endometrin (yuk). I did wean down very very slowly. I am 10 weeks now and completely off everything!

Re: weaning off progesterone
Oh I remember this fear. I went off, cold turkey, at 11 weeks. Stayed on an extra week.
Dr. said the placenta is making enough hormones by 7 weeks to support the pregnancy. I figured what do they know so stayed on an extra week.

Re: weaning off progesterone
after 10w the placenta produces its own progesterone so if you had low progesterone due to your body's own production previously, now that the placenta is in charge you dont really need to worry about that. so relax, and enjoy not being on it anymore!

Ok so far thanks.. how about you? How far along are you? I'm supposed to take it every other day for a week, so I skipped Monday, and today I'm skipping again. I see my OB today though so I hope I get to see that everything is still going ok...

My OB said I can start weaning off at 10 weeks but now I'm 10w and change and just started because I was too nervous! I can't wait for my next appointment. I got so spoiled going to the RE and seeing the baby so frequently that now I feel like I haven't been in years! Looking forward to the end of the first trimester and hopefully I'll feel more at ease. I started seeing the RE to help stay pregnant (had multiple mc's), so I'm counting the days. I've even been too scared to post on the pregnancy board at this point!
How are things with you? How far along? How was your appointment?

I am in my 10th week as well! And I also feel exactly the same as you do being spoiled by the RE. I am actually feeling fine thank goodness. My OB appointment went well today, doc did a sono and the baby was moving like mad! so that puts my mind more at ease. However, I had to tell work today (my intention was to tell them after my ultrascreen) because I ended up taking such a long lunch break due to my doc appt! How are you feeling, when is your next appointment?

Great news! I have my ultrascreen next week and my monthly OB visit the following week. Being that I haven't had an appointment in a few weeks I'm looking forward to them! Been feeling good the last week or so, but prior to that seems like a blur of nausea. When I was pregnant with my DS I had bouts of nausea/sickness but nothing like this time around. Is this your first? Have you been sick? How did it go with your boss?

Sorry you had to deal with all the MS but its great that you are feeling better. To my surprise there has only been a few days where I felt queasy but as soon as I put sea bands on, the nausea pretty much subsided. The only thing i have been dealing with is weight gain, i think i am def gaining too much especially for my first trimester! This will be my first so a whole new experience for me... my boss and coworkers said they already knew! I scheduled my ultrascreen for Friday 2/10 (i think i'll be around 12 w 4 days)...good luck on yours and keep us posted on how it goes!

I was thinking of doing this as well since i'd have some leftover crinone (about 4-5) so we'll see!

Re: weaning off progesterone
With my first pregnancy, I stopped Crinone at around 9wks I think and I noticed the bloating subsided, before it picked up again a few weeks later. I was actually smaller at 11wks than 9wks!!

Re: weaning off progesterone
My Dr had me stop cold turkey at 10 weeks. I didn't notice anything except that my lower back/butt finally healed!
