Wearing a baby- BTDT moms?
I am researching the idea of wearing DC #3, thinking it may be efficient for me.
I don't know anything about it, other than there are baby carriers and wraps that are so vastly different.
Can anyone share the whys, hows, and how-tos? Good/bad experiences?
I don't know the first thing about this, including medical studies or psych studies that show benefits of baby-wearing.
TIA

Wearing a baby- BTDT moms?
LOVE the Maya Sling. Its a slip over your head, soft fabric sling. Its adjustable easily. The tail end of it has a small pouch which I used for a diaper/ wipe case, keys, phone, $, etc... so I didn't always have to bring a diaper bag. The tail end is also its own breastfeeding cover. Just slip baby in and go! Also, try to avoid ones that have slip in leg holes early on bc it can put stress on their hips when they are so little. We also have the Moby Wrap which is awesome once its on, but a pain to wrap. I like that one for when they are really little bc it holds them snug to you. I am looking at the Baby K'Tan this time around for when this one is really little bc it looks like the same concept with out all the wrapping. I LOVED wearing my son, it was hands free when he wouldn't sleep and I could get things done. I also went for walks wearing him to get back in shape with the extra weight lol. DH has the Baby Bjorn for when DS was older and liked that one bc it was easy and soft with buckles and no fussing. HTH!

Wearing a baby- BTDT moms?
I had 4 different carriers. 2 infantinos and another one I forgot which one with my twins. Didn't use them too much with the twins but then i got PG with # 3 and knew baby wearing was going to be a must since my twins were still so young. After my DS was born i wore him all the time from a few days old on. These 3 carriers i had were terrible on my back, even with an infant. When he was about 4 months old a friend let me try the Ergo for a day and i LOVED it. My back didn't hurt and i could wear him all day. So i did some research and also found the Boba 3G I think by recommendation from someone on here. They are both very similar except with the Ergo you could carry in the front, back and side. With the Boba only the front and back. Neither of them forward faces the baby which i am sure you've read that they say it's not good anyway. And i loved when DS would just lay his head on my chest and go to sleep in the carrier. I decided to go with the boba 3G because i read the back on it was a little higher for the baby. I knew i would be wearing DS for a long time and wanted something with good back support for him too. He is now 21 months old and i STILL wear him and I love it. Sometimes my shoulders hurt a bit because he's a heavy boy, but my back is fine. I could still carry him all day with no back problems. IMO if you are going to baby wear, it's worth it to spend some extra money on a good carrier than to buy a not so good one and not be happy with it in the end. Good luck!!!

Wearing a baby- BTDT moms?
I started with a bjorn when DD was a newborn but never found it very comfortable and then learned that it's not good for baby's development either. I then got a moby bc I didn't want to spend a ton and I liked that for the next few months. It is annoying to put on if you're out bc the ends would be dragging on the ground. It can also take a few tries to get the right tightness but once she was in I liked it. After a few more months I splurged on the Ergo and so regretted not getting that from day one. I used it until DD was over a year and could walk for an hour or two and be totally comfortable. Now that I'm expecting my second, I'm looking into getting the newborn insert for the ergo and maybe a ring sling or some other kind of sling. I always found youtube to be helpful in seeing how each carrier works, the process of getting the LO in and out, how to nurse using them (never tried it but might this time).

i loved wearing my daughter! I mad the Mai Tai, which was great when she was a bit older and the ring sling when she was younger. The ring sling was great when i needed to go to the store and didn't want to bring the stroller. like grocery shopping or a quick errand. I just slipped her in very quickly and she loved exploring. Loved my Ergo when she got older!

Try a ring sling or Moby wrap for a newborn, and a soft structured carrier like the Ergo (with or without insert) when the baby is a couple months old. The Moby has a bit of a learning curve but once you practice a couple times it's no big deal.

Check out Tula baby carriers!! They're an obsession :)
Eta: There are baby wearing meetups in Nassau and Suffolk where you could check out various carriers and see which works best for you. Everyone's body type/preferences are different. Let me know if you'd like info about the meetups!

I'd love info on the meetups, so the moms could tell me why to wear the baby. I may not be able to BF (again) but I think I am going to need to since the girls will be 2! YIKES
