wedding 12 Days before Due Date...
So, we were invited to a wedding that is 12 days before my EDD...it's about an hr and a half away from my house, and another 20 - 30 mins from the hospital.
Would you go? I would feel bad responding yes, and then not being able to make it, but I also feel bad saying no!
TIA!

Re: wedding 12 Days before Due Date...
I would try to
At our wedding last october, one of DH's friends was invited with his wife who was 8 months pregnant with twins at the time. They RSVP's yes and I remember seeing them come in and then immediately running out b/c she thought she was going into labor, at our reception She gave birth 7 days later
If you are only 20mins from the hospital, I would try it!

I would rsvp yes, and if by chance you can't make it then just send a gift. I am sure they understand.

Depends how close you are to them. If its family I would say yes and send a gift if I couldnt go. They really dont put in their last count until 2 weeks before anyway. I've had people not show or call but still sent a card after. Family would definately understand!

It's a co-worker of mine...that's why I'm kind of on the fence...There is also a very good chance that I will be working from home by then, and I feel sort of weird working from home and then being okay to go hang out at a wedding all day when my bosses will be there...

I don't know how close you are to the couple but I would speak to them first and let them know the situation and see what they would suggest.
I would think the better option is to RSVP no and then if you can make it, they can always add you on later. I'm not a big fan of RSVP'ing yes if you're not sure because once they put in that final number they usually can't change it. I would rather pay for 2 people at the last minute then to pay for 2 people who can't make it. JMO though.

Re: wedding 12 Days before Due Date...
I agree about saying no. I know you have a diff circumstance but I was LIVID with the people who were no shows at my wedding... Even the ones who gave gifts didn't "cover their plate" and I wouldn't have had to pay for them if they had the decency to tell me just a few days before... So I agree you should explain that you're giving a no with the hopes that you will be able to change it to yes last minute if you are feeling up to it and they don't mind.

Re: wedding 12 Days before Due Date...
I think you should try and make it, or at least see how you feel. We have a wedding 14 days AFTER my due date, and I rsvpd yes. B/c hopefully I will be a brand new mommy that has already recovered...

I would say no, don't go. It is a co-worker, not family and you won't be at the office anyway. It would be weird if you could make it to the wedding but can't make it to the office.

I agree. And since it's an hour and a half away...

Thanks for all of your thoughts ladies...I still have no idea what I'm going to do!!! It's really the not being in the office thing that kinda makes me feel weird...

Re: wedding 12 Days before Due Date...
you're in a similar situation as I am. i have been on disability from work since May and will be 36 weeks at my co-worker's wedding which will be about an hour away from our house. My boss will be there and so i didnt know what to do...I thought it looked bad going to a wedding while being on bed rest, but in the end, I RSVP'd "Yes....baby permitting!!!" There is a strong chance that I will not be going back to work after the baby is born and figure this is my last chance to see some of my co-workers (although they wont know it yet ). I figure I will go...have some good food and listen to some good music for the night....heck at 36 weeks preggo...this might be my last party for a while!

Re: wedding 12 Days before Due Date...
Well to give you an opinion from someone who is literally 12 days from her due date at this very moment, if it was a good friend or family, I'd go. But if it's not, I wouldn't want to. I've had a VERY good pregnancy, no complains aside from some hand and feet swelling, no signs of imminent labor and I'd even have a dress to wear. But two hours away is a bit far for me to travel for someone I'm not close with. Much easier to send a gift! But that's just me!

Re: wedding 12 Days before Due Date...
We are invited to a wedding two weeks before my DD and we responded no. I dont want the couple to pay and then we end up not going. I dont know how I am going to feel that day. I had a wedding 3 weeks ago, and I was so exhausted. I can't imagine being 2 hours away from home either.

Re: wedding 12 Days before Due Date...
When i was preg with ds we had a wedding three weeks before my due date... we rsvp'd yes and then my ob told me a few days prior that he thought i would be lucky if i made it another week.... so dh went and i stayed hom... it was one thing for him to be stuck an hour away and another for me to be as well

Re: wedding 12 Days before Due Date...
We went to a wedding one week before my due date - it was a close friend and my daughter was the flower girl and it was 15 minutes from the hosipital.
I would most likely not go if it was 2 hours away from the hosiptal - I would just be nervous that I would start getting pains or feel umcomfortable....

I would also get the opinion of your doctor. Mine didn't want me traveling that far at 36+ weeks.

Re: wedding 12 Days before Due Date...
I'm all for going to weddings right up until D-day, but not if it's more than 1 hr. from the hospital. I'm going to a wedding at 36 weeks, but I'll be 20 minutes from the hospital.
