Wedding invitation by e-mail.. anybody ever get one??

SO we're invited to a wedding out in CA this summer. The groom is VERY, VERY "green", which I think is great.
They sent out their STDs by e-mail awhile ago, saying they were trying to save paper and that invites were going to be coming out. that was great- easy way to do STDs.
So today I get the wedding inviation by e-mail too! they it even has a google docs thing to put in your reply and make your meal choice! definitely an easy way to keep track of replies and stuff. they also did an "invitation" in word and attached it for people to print out and put on their fridge if they want to.
anyway- this is a first for me, so i just thought i would see if anybody else did this, or has gotten a wedding invitation by e-mail before. i'm wondering if this is gonna become more common...

I've never received an e-mail invitation, but I have received an e-vite to a second wedding in Vegas....

I like the fact that the couple is "green" enough to think of doing something like that!

I've never seen it before, but I like it! I guess it depends on your family and friends. There are still people in my family that don't USE email, so it wouldn't work for us.

I see where some people would say it kills the formality of the whole wedding thing, but chances are that with a "green" bride and groom, the wedding isn't going to be your typical wasteful NY-style catering hall wedding anyway.

that sounds incredible!! I definitely like the idea of email invites, especially since they are a "green" couple.

I've never received one, but I think it's an interesting idea. It's something that is important to them and totally makes sense when you think about all the waste involved with paper invitations, etc... It seems like they obviously put thought into it bc they prepared the files and set up Google docs.

Like people said it would only work if all invited guests used email.

I received an evite once for someone's 2nd marriage. I personally thing it is a fabulous idea. Besides going green it also saves some money! I spent so much $$$ on my invites and I now realize what a waste of money that was!

I WISH I would have thought of this.

sounds cool though. me gusta.
