Wedding related - Clear wrapping gifts?
I was invited to a bridal shower and on the invitation it says "please clear wrap your gifts". Does this mean like cellophane paper? Or no wrapping? Is this the new thing now? TIA
ETA: What about the wishing well gift?

It's so the bride can see the gifts without opening them. Think about the clear wrapping paper that easter baskets are wrapped in.

I have never heard of this. Why would this be important?

It means she wont be unwrapping them, lots of brides feel like it saves time. I personally loved unwrapping everything but it is very time consuming.

Re: Wedding related - Clear wrapping gifts?
its so the bride doesn't spend tons of time opening the gifts, she can just hold it up and tell you waht it is...but this is really more for things to be put into basket or something, i never saw anything wrapped in clear paper for like a toaster that comes in a box. For those items, i just see bows placed on them.
And yes, think of the clear cellophane paper that is used around Easter time - most drug stores carry them around this time

Re: Wedding related - Clear wrapping gifts?
yes, clear cellophane.
I usually use a basket & wrap in cellophane anyway, but I don't like guests being told how to wrap their gift. I'm also not a fan of sitting & watching someone open gifts unless there is some kind of prize related even going on (then my competitive side comes out).
I don't usually wrap wishing well gifts.

Celophane is good... and if they didnt mention wishing well on the invite then my guess would be that there isnt one..

Its not important, its just a personal preference of the bride most likely... there were 90 something people at my shower... it would have taken 3 hours for me to open every gift... some people still wrapped... most didnt though and it went by really fast and i was able to enjoy the time with my friends and family.

Re: Wedding related - Clear wrapping gifts?
im pretty sure it means clear cello or even no wrapping so the bride doesnt have to spend 2 hours opening gifts.
the are usually put on a table to display.

Re: Wedding related - Clear wrapping gifts?
When given that request I just put a bow on the gift and call it a day. It actually bothers me to be told how to wrap presents.

What is a nice way to word this on an invite? W/o making the guests feel they are being told what to do.

My mom wrote "be a dear, wrap in clear" on mine...

I think people are being nice enough to get you presents, let them wrap it how they want!

Re: Wedding related - Clear wrapping gifts?
we did this for my friend and i would say about 10% listened... she had over 200 people at her bridal shower, it too almost 4 hours to open gifts and that is with her 9 bridesmaids and several others helping her.
i think its a great idea if there are a LOT of people, but you will see most will not listen

Re: Wedding related - Clear wrapping gifts?
I just went shopping and got the stuff wrapped (it was free - how could I resist?? ) but my plan is to print a picture of the items and tape them to the packages. Serves the purpose of not having to open the gifts and also looks pretty wrapped up. Maybe I will start a new trend!!!
