Wedding Thank Yous -- Early/Average/Late?
As a wedding guest, when do you expect to receive thank you cards? (assuming they are hand written with a personal message)
At what point do you consider a thank you fast/early, what do you consider an average time for the thank you, and at what point do you consider the thank you late?
Not asking for ettiquette, but your opinion as a guest.

Less then a month: Wow, they are on the ball!
Average: 3-4 months
Late: After 7-8 months
These are just ball park. I know a lot of couples get photo cards now and they take longer.

Re: Wedding Thank Yous -- Early/Average/Late?
I'm really hoping to get them all out within a month. I'm past the halfway point by now, and I'd rather write thank yous than do my reading for class so they have been getting done slowly but surely. I just want to get them over with so I don't feel them looming over me. We'll see...
(I didn't do photo cards so I was able to start writing as soon as we got back from our honeymoon)

Re: Wedding Thank Yous -- Early/Average/Late?
we were married in nov and our last TYs went out in June/July - we didn't get our proofs until May and then had to order TYs.
BUT now I'm getting some returned for insufficient postage - I DON'T KNOW WHY - they're in letter sized envelopes and they're definitely under 1oz!!!!
I hate the USPS

I was just thinking the same thing! When I sent mine out I was thinking that it might have been a reminder that I never got one!
I am convinced that most people in my family have no idea about wedding etiquette.

I agree.. I got mine out before 3 months, but a few of my family members didn't receive them, so I had to send out ones again, and I just got around to them so it was 8 months.. But I blame the post office lol

Re: Wedding Thank Yous -- Early/Average/Late?
it took us 5 months. but we had to wait for our thank yous which took forever. i think any time in between 2 and 8 months is fine.

Re: Wedding Thank Yous -- Early/Average/Late?
I expect to recieve a thank you when the bride and groom get their lives settled in as husband and wife and get back into the swing of things post-wedding. I say within a year is fine.
I never really thought about it having a time limit. A thank you is a thank you.

Re: Wedding Thank Yous -- Early/Average/Late?
i did 80% or so of mine within six months.
but then everything with kenneth happened and that last 20 maybe 25% got a little delayed but i had them out, i was writing them at the hospital lol to pass the time, but i had them out by the first week of july.

Re: Wedding Thank Yous -- Early/Average/Late?
It's so different depending on region. I'm from MA, and here we don't do picture thank yous. So 6 weeks is when I sent mine out since I knew my family would expect them fairly soon. For picture thank yous a few months seems reasonable.

You totally should blame the post office since you wrote them and they weren't delivered successfully!
BTW - thank you to everone on this thread on behalf of my friend in CA who got married in june and has been stressing over not getting her notes out yet. she's got only 15 left to send but it's really been weighing her down. she really appreciated the timelines discussed as she was feeling behind the eight ball but the thread made her realize she's not way off on timing
