Wedding vows renewal...
When do most people do this? I always wanted to do it at our 5 year wedding anniversary, but I can't see us being able to afford it since next year is our 5 year anniv. and we already have a 2 yr old and a new baby on the way in September. Caiden would be over 3.5 yrs and the baby will be almost 1. I wanted to do a destination renewal wedding. Any thoughts or plans on what other people are doing? Thanks!

Re: Wedding vows renewal...
If you cant afford it...then dont do anything.
I dont understand the 5 year renewal thing....why not wait for 10 or 20 years.

Re: Wedding vows renewal...
Most people I know don't renew their vows and the ones that did were for a bigger anniversaries like 10, 25 and 50 years.
It's not something that has to be done so if you can't afford to do something next year, like Lisa said, I would wait.

Re: Wedding vows renewal...
I've always heard it was for 5 years? Now I'm confused! I would think it would make sense for a 10 year one because at five years you basically just got married to me? I guess I'll just have to wait and see. 10 years does sound like it makes more sense?

Re: Wedding vows renewal...
I've always heard of them being done after 10 years and up...unless you didn't have the wedding you wanted, then some people do a renewal sooner in order to get a celebration more like what they wanted.
I don't think you have to do it at the 5 yr mark.

Re: Wedding vows renewal...
I wouldn't have a party for renewing my vows unless it was a major anniversary (25 years). But I say if the mood strikes you, renew your vows every year with your immediate family in attendance.

Re: Wedding vows renewal...
I have heard of vow renewals for all the years the previous posters mentioned. I think that some want a 5 year renewal if they were not able to have the "wedding of their dreams" when they originally got married. As for the 10, 20, 25, 30 year renewals I look at it like a wonderful time for a party and to affirm and strengthen the bonds of marriage. That said, if financially it is a difficult time for you, then I would go on a vacation, but not blow the budget on a vow renewal.

I agree with the other ladies about doing it on your 10th, 20th or 25th.

That's what we're thinking..Hawaii!
But we'll see what happens. Could be a little to worry about at that time and then it may be small scale!

Re: Wedding vows renewal...
I'm hoping to do a renewal for our 10 year anniversary. I will certainly be done having kids amd I'm sure most of our friends will have them by then too. So we'll pick a family friendly resort and get a group rate. Whoever wants to come is welcome to, whoever can't make it, that's fine too.

Re: Wedding vows renewal...
I'm planning to do ours for our 10th Wedding Anniversary. I also will be doing it then because my husband is retiring(hopefully) and it falls on or about the same date of our 10th Anniversary. I already have other jobs he can do after his retirement....he's way too young to retire completely..... I have in mind to do a destination renewal wedding and also to celebrate his retirement but this part I will keep a secret from him. If you can't afford it right now, then it's best you wait for your 10th wedding anniversary and I usually heard that it's done for milestones like that...10th, 25th, 50th etc.

Re: Wedding vows renewal...
we were planning to do ours this year which will be our 7 year anniversary since we never had a real wedding but decided to wait and save the money for a house.
You can do it whenever you want.
