Weeds going through mulch and landscaping fabric

So, I have those weeds everywhere that went through the mulch/landscape fabric.

It's almost impossible to dig them out.

I am not sure what to do.

Should I rip the whole fabric and remove the mulch so I can remove the weeds?

If so, should I lay more landscape fabric or not bother?

It was so much work to put together. It really annoys me to have spent hours laying the landscape fabric to avoid this.

can you just hit it with weed killer?

I don't use the landscape fabric for that exact reason. Last year I ripped it all out because at least that way I can run the cultivator through the ground, uproot the weeds and pull them easily.
I find mulch works best.

What?! Seriously!!! What's the point of the landscaping fabric then...

This is good to know....this is my big project for next year...maybe I shouldn't bother!

We use 'preen' - its a pre-emergent.
We sprinkled a little over the beds before everything sprouted and it seems to be working.

We don't use it by the vegetables. I only use it on the landscaped beds.
