weekday birthday party??? thoughts
*sorry for all the bday party posts. i'm running out of time to plan.
I want to have just a "friend" party for DD's 2nd birthday. I was thinking of doing woodkingdom during spring break. it would be a wednesday around 3-4. most, if not all, of my friends with kids are teachers and have off that week. do you think it's strange to have a weekday party? Most husbands would not be able to come...is this okay??
ETA: All of my friends are teachers or SAHMs...no "mom" would miss it, just the dads. i dont think any of them are going away.

Re: weekday birthday party??? thoughts
Just a thought... considering they are teachers some could be going away.
I'm a teacher and so are most of the parents in my DC's daycare class but I also know that on any given break about 1/2 of them are away for at least some of the days.
Is there any way you could find out before you booked the party?

I'm not a teacher, so I would be kind of upset that I'd have to miss it.

Re: weekday birthday party??? thoughts
I considered a Friday evening party for Christopher, but I decided it would be too much of a PITA for everyone...
I'd stay away from weekdays unless you are sure your core group can come, you know?

Re: weekday birthday party??? thoughts
I am having DS's b-day this year during the week in the morning. Most of his friends go MWF to Preschool and the mom's are SAHM's. I am hoping his cousins are are the same schedule too.
Money is tight this year and we can't afford this place on the weekend and DS really wants it there.

Re: weekday birthday party??? thoughts
I've been to a lot of b-day parties over the last few years with DS. Weekday parties are often a big hit with other parents. Weekends are usually booked to the hilt with family events, errands, sports, weddings, etc. Sometimes, the weekday events have more people attending than the weekend events.

I think it's fine if the dads don't go to a kid party. My DH may even upgrade a present to skip one
Given all of the invitees are SAHMs or teachers, I'd say your're fine.

Re: weekday birthday party??? thoughts
If I were home during the week, I would love to come to a weekday party. It gives us something to do that wouldn't interfere with weekend plans.

Re: weekday birthday party??? thoughts
I'm not a fan of weekday parties, especially for school friends. I don't have anyone to watch my other child during the party, so they always have to miss them since mine are still too young to sit nicely with me while all the other kids are playing.
