How much weight have you gained? I'm 26 weeks and I've gained 30lbs! I'm a little shocked by that number and worried I gained too much.

I'd go by what your doctor says.

I'm up 20 pounds at 21 weeks and doctor isn't worried at all. I honestly don't really know where the weight has gone either as I still fit into all my regular pants with a Bella Band. As long as you are being healthy, I think weight gain is okay!

I wouldnt be concerned. I gained like 22 pounds by then and only gained 3-4 the last 12-13 weeks. As long as your doctor has not said anything, you are fine.

Re: weight gain

I'm 29 weeks and gained 19 lbs so far. I wouldn't be concerned, I gained 60 with my first 50 with my 2nd, 30 with my 3rd .. Each pregnancy is different, and your doctor is monitoring your belly growth the entire time. You know when they measure your belly with the measuring tape? Each centimeter is for each week and as long as it's within 2 weeks + or -, your growing perfectly.

Re: weight gain

I am 26.5 weeks, have gained ~15lbs. But like everyone else said, so much depends on your body and how much you weighed before and all that jazz. As long as you're being healthy, I wouldn't worry!

Re: weight gain

My weight tends to fluctuate- but I'm concerned, too. I'm 20 weeks today and I've gained 14 lbs. My doctor already yelled at me at my 17 week appointment for gaining 8 lbs. so I'm not looking forward to the dressing down I'll be getting when I see her next. Chat Icon She said 30 lbs. total, 35 max, but I'm afraid I'll go over that, too. I'm trying hard though- minimal snacking, healthy meals, walking a lot, light exercise, I drink nothing but water and an occasional iced tea. I don't know what else I can do!

ETA: I'm also still too small for maternity clothes. I wear my regular pants and this is my first week having to use the belly band. That thing is AMAZING!

I'm 20 weeks and gained about 15lbs so far.

I think it depends on your starting weight and your body. If your doctor doesn't seem concerned I wouldn't stress it.

Re: weight gain

i gained about a pound per week up until the end.. i think i leveled off and only gained half per week the last few weeks.

for me, that was a lot. but i didnt look it. (people said i carried small).. i also eat very well and worked out the entire pregnancy.

do NOT worry about the number on the scale unless your doc seems concerned. Chat Icon

Re: weight gain

I think I was at about that around 26 weeks. I am now almost 35 weeks and probably over 40 pounds - I stopped counting. With my first, I think I gained over 50 pounds. I lost almost all of it in like 3 months.

I had shared my concerns at the doctor and they said that since I started out at a normal, healthy weight, it is okay that I am gaining a little more. If I were overweight to begin with, they would be more concerned. Chat Icon

Similar. I carried so small, I looked 6 months pregnant the day I delivered.
However, I was very swollen in the feet etc and retained a ton of water.
I am sure I gained a ton on the scale, but
I actually topped looking at the scale. I'd stand on it with my eyes closed and ask the nurse not to announce it unless there was an issue.
Your Dr will let you know if it's an issue.
Otherwise, you gain what the baby needs- unless you are eating insanely bad or something

Re: weight gain

Honestly I wouldn't worry. You will put on what you need to... I gained 45 lb with my first and I gained 35 lbs with my second. I lost the weight the first time around and I'm currently 5 lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight this time around (DD is 5 months) but it doesn't help that all of this holiday crap is around for me to snack on LOL.

Also I want to add that my entire pregnancy my doctor never told me I was gaining too much, etc. which helped because I think that would add some unnecessary stress!

Re: weight gain

I was slightly below what an average person my height and age should weigh before I got pregnant and now I'm 22+ weeks and when I was weighed in last week I had gained 11 lbs total. Although I feel like since my belly popped during this past week that I definitely gained atleast 5 more lbs since last Monday already.

Re: weight gain

I'm slightly overweight and have not yet gained anything at 36 weeks. Doctors are not worried as baby is growing. I gained 16 lbs with dd.

At least for me, I feel like I have little control over it. With my first I gained a lot, almost 50 lbs. This time around, I started at the exact same pre-pregnancy weight as my first and I've only gained 4 lbs at 17 weeks (at this point with my first I was up a good 20). I'm not intentionally doing anything different, but I was very hungry my first pregnancy and this time I have more food aversions and a much smaller appetite. I believe as long as you're being healthy, your body will do what it needs to do for each baby. And for what it's worth, I never had any issues due to my weight gain like GD or anything like that. And I lost the weight pretty quickly and without a ton of effort. Don't stress over it and just focus on being healthy.
