Weight Watchers and Pregnancy
Hi ladies I was wondering if you could help me with this question...
We're in the TTC stage but I was wondering if anyone can tell me if you can be on WW and be PG at the same time. I'm trying to shed some pounds before we conceive and so I started counting my points. Unfortunately, I've lost my information book since I last did WW.
Do you do anything differently? Add more daily points? Have more dairy? I would love to continue to watch my weight and count points but I do not want to jeapordize my pregnancy when it happens.
Any info you can share would be GREATLY appreciated!!

You cannot follow WW while PG. IF you were actually going to meetings etc, they would kick you out upon confirmation of your PG.
ETA: That doesn't mean you can't follow basic prinicipals - like eating whole grains instead of stuff with white flour etc, but sticking to the points guideline while PG is NOT a good idea at all.

Re: Weight Watchers and Pregnancy
all the paperwork I got from the Dr's office says do not diet while PG. If you eat healthy, you should be fine though...

This is very true and it says it in their literature.
They do have special guidlines for breast feeding mothers though.

Re: Weight Watchers and Pregnancy
While you shouldn't 'diet' and count points, there is no reason why you cannot track what you eat and follow certain guidelines. Instead I would follow a diabetic ---- low fat/low sugar diet instead. It will help keep your weight in check and your sugar levels steady which is great for baby.
I suggest using a program like www.babyfit.com to to track what you eat. It will tell you how much calcium, folate, fiber, iron and calories you are taking in .,.. versus what is recommended for you and baby. I think it would be very helpful to you after Weight Watchers.

Re: Weight Watchers and Pregnancy
My dr was very clear that while I was to eat healthy and track what I ate, there would be NO dieting.
