Weight Watchers, Breastfeeding, exercising and Frustration-advice needed
I've been on Weight Watchers for 5 weeks now and I'm so frustrated! I feel like I'm doing everything right and the weight loss is so inconsistent. I get 28 points because I'm breastfeeding, I walk 6-8 miles a week (will get back to gym next week) , I track everything and I eat well. The only thing I can think of is that I'm not eating all of my points everyday. I usually eat about 23-24.
Here is my loss per week
Week 1- down 3.4 Week 2- down .4 Week 3- down .2 Week 4- down 3.0 Week 5-up .6 (WTH!! ) I did nothing differently.
Any advice or ideas would be so appreciated. TIA

i think ww can be a great tool because it gives you balance in your life but i don't think it works for everyone. It worked for me to drop 25lbs in ONE YEAR even with working out and to me this time around wasn't acceptable.
I would try to use your points on veggies and protiens and not on carbs/sugars. I am doing atkins now and to be honest I am less hungry, not so tired and feel better in general. I would def. stick with WW because you have a support by going to meetings and have a easy tracker. Just switch up what your using your points on.

Okay Danielle here is the scoop. You are NOT eating enough. I can guarentee that.
I totally get your frustration. You are working hard and not seeing the results that you want to see. But if you take your losses (and your gain) and divide it amongst your the weeks you have been following the program you are averaging more than a lb a week which is healthy and totally normal!
In order for the program to work you have to work the program. That means eating ALL of your points each and every day. If you find you are not hungry enough to eat that much, add some fat to your diet. A couple of tablespoons of Peanut butter, whole dairy instead of skim or non-fat etc. That will raise your points quickly while keeping it healthy. If you are having days where you are extra hungry - EAT. That's what those flex points are there for.
Because you are breastfeeding you are burning 500-800 calories a day on top of what you are burning from exercise. You must, must, must eat more.

Thank you both for responding. I figured that I wasnt eating enough. I think I'm so used to eating my usual points before I was breastfeeding it's hard to add more food. I'll try adding higher points but healthy foods. Thanks again

I only started losing weight while breastfeeding when my DD turned 6 months old and I stopped using my nursing points.

You have to eat all of your points each day. If you don't then you won't lose the way that you should. The program is set up to make sure your body is getting what it needs and when you don't eat all your points your body might go into starvation mode which messes up your metalbolism.

If you are BFing, you must eat enough and drink enough water or your body will store everything to make milk.

I have to be honest- your weight loss seems fine to me. A healthy weight loss on WW is about 1-2 pounds a week. Your average when you total everything makes it about 1.5 pounds a week.
To protect your supply, you really do need to eat all your points. I did WW when I was BFing my second baby but didn't start until she was about 6 months old. The weight came off faster. This time my DS is almost 10weeks old and my losses aren't nearly as much as I expected. My leader (as well as my OB) said you really need to eat or else the body WILL hold on to the weight.
Rather than concentrate on the individual weekly numbers I'm REALLY going to concentrate on the overall loss. It's so hard though.

Also just wanted to add - the last week of gain might be water weight due to your period. I know the whole time I did WW, I would be down 3 weeks followed by up one. Every month was like that and I found I would usuallly lose a little more the week following the gain.
Don't be discouraged! Stick with it and you will see the results
