Weight Watchers for Nursing Moms?
Anyone tried and had success with it? Is there a website to check it out? All i can find is the weight watchers info for regular non-nursing....
TIA!

Re: Weight Watchers for Nursing Moms?
I used Weight Watchers when my son was around 7 months old. This was a while ago but I think they gave me 10 additional points because I was nursing. I didn't have a problem with supply and I did lose the 20 pounds I was hoping to lose. I think that you would adjust the number of points down if you supplement/child doesn't nurse that frequently. My DS was crazy about nursing so I used the 10 points max allotted for nursing moms and still lost weight. Of course - this was over 4 years ago so I don't know if they still use points! Good luck!

Re: Weight Watchers for Nursing Moms?
I started WW when I was nursing ds & lost 30 lbs. I had the 10 extra points like the pp mentioned (on both the old & the new system - I was on it when they changed to Points Plus). I started struggling with my supply a few weeks into it, but didn't put 2 & 2 together until it was too late...I had just assumed that w/ds being 10 months old my body was naturally ending it. Once I realized what the problem was I started adding even more points to my day (I think I went up to 15 or 20) and I saw a slight increase in my supply while I kept losing weight (just more slowly), but it was too late to recover & I had to start supplementing. This time around I'm going to be more in tune to what's going on & will probably start out by allotting 15 extra points to myself for nursing. For me, nursing is more important than weight loss so I won't mind the slow down. If you do it my advice would be to keep what happened to me in mind & if you see a drop in your supply immediately add more points. Good luck!

Re: Weight Watchers for Nursing Moms?
I don't know if they have anything online about nursing (though I imagine they would), but they have a pamphlet in the meeting locations that explains the deal. Under the new points plus program, you get 14 if you're exclusively BFing; 7 if you're supplementing or the baby is on solid food.

Re: Weight Watchers for Nursing Moms?
you could also try myfitnesspal.com, which is pretty much exactly ww online except it is free. you track your calories, exercise, and can even account for the calories burned while nursing. i started it on sept 1 and i have lost 15 lbs. give it a shot! i had joined ww first but then got all freaked out by the committment of having to go to a meeting every week, so i cancelled my membership and joined MFP. best thing i did!
