weird DD re: pulling to stand...

OK, so DD has been getting up on her knees to play with toys for a few weeks now, but has not attempted to pull herself up to stand from that position, well the past two days I've been putting my hands lightly on under her upper arm, not even holding her weight at all, just placing my arms there and she immediately pulls up to stand!?!!!?!?!?!? What is that about??? She def has the strength to pull herself up but has no interest doing it except when I place my hands under her arms, I'm not holding her weight at all, I would get if I were supporting her when she does it but I'm not?!!?!?

Weird????

No I don't think it's weird. My DS did that as well. Started on his knees and then pulled up over a month later (when he was 1). He did pull up and cruise for 5 months before taking his first steps. He's 16 months and I can say he finally walks more than crawls. They do it in their own time.

I think they just need to feel comfortable and confident before they do it on their own. My DS could totally walk well before he walked. He would walk holding just the tip of my one finger (one hand) I was not really even helping him balance. I think he just felt safe holding something before he became confident enough to let go and do it himselfChat Icon

I think its perfectly normal. Just that little bit of added security gives her the confidence to do it.
