Weird sounds and breathing..a little nervous

My DS is a little over three months and was born at a little over 34 weeks. My DH and I have noticed that he at times makes a strange gasping, hiccuping sound while breathing (mostly in his sleep or after he's been crying) it sounds similiar to that gasp kids make after they have been hysterical and are trying to catch their breathe....

Anyway, the docotor says this is normal and he will grow out of it..I was wondering if anyone else has experienced something similiar and what if anything their peditrician has said.

Kaitee just did this 2 nights ago. She is 6 months old and has never done this before. I just watched her closly untill it quit.

Hannah does it quite often - a few times a day/night. She's done it since she was born and is now 8 weeks. Sounds like she is suddenly gasping for air. It scares the heck out of us. My ped also said its normal. She seems fine when she does it.

My daughter does this too sometimes when she's laying on my chest. I am glad to hear others do it - I was going to bring it up at my next appt.

DD did this after she was crying hysterically after waking up from anesthesia after a procedure on friday. I was concerned and the nurse said it was totally normal. She is 7 1/2 months old.
