Well, I spoke too soon about my little sleeper....

Up since midnight... NO - I didn't have him cry for 9 hours until he fell asleep! Chat Icon

I am so tired I'm wide awake, if that makes sense...

Sorry to hear that! They go back and forth so much. As soon as you think you know they're pattern -- it changes. Oh well.

Well - yes - the thing is - I run errands during the day - he falls asleep in the car, in the stroller, etc...

but last night we went out to the park with my stepdaughters - he was awake the whole time - and up until 10:00 - I thought for sure he would get some good sleep in... but no - he slept until 12, then has been up ever since... Chat Icon

Re: Well, I spoke too soon about my little sleeper....

I have a feeling - he still has his days and nights mixed up - try keeping him up more during the day.

My DD was like this alot in the beginning.
It was hard to keep her up - some days, I just didn't run my errrands or leave the house - but eventually she was more awake during the day and sleep a little more during the night.

I know I was one of the luckier ones - but my DD starting sleeping through the night at about 2 months - but it was after she got her days and nights straight.

Now I am lucky if I get her to take any naps Chat Icon

It sounds to me like he was overstimulated and overtired, which is why he didn't have a good night's rest.

Some babies can not handle all of the activity right before they go to sleep. Maybe try limiting his stimulation in the evening. Remember, at this stage EVERYTHING is stimulation. So, being at the park watching the people and the kids run around is stimulation.

I agree with both Marcie and Steph. Definitely try to limit your errands and try to keep him awake more during the day. Also no naps after 5pm and try to keep him less stimulated.

I know he's still young, but have you started a nighttime routine? I would have your play time and then start winding down. I usually end the day with a nice warm bath and then we go into her room where I have the lights dimmed. She has a quiet bottle and a book. I try to talk very low and soft.

After I put her over my shoulder and cuddle while we rock a little. Then before she falls asleep I put her in the crib. The Rainforest Soother thing usually puts her to sleep within 15 minutes. She always falls asleep facing it.

Re: Well, I spoke too soon about my little sleeper....

Well, you tried. We have good nights and bad nights.
So, unfortunately, even at 10 weeks, it doesnt look like any kind of schedule forms, although, I do seem to get some sleep out of her from 7pm-midnight, the rest of the night is up in the air.
Last night, Taylor went from 7pm-1145, went back down to sleep at 1am, was up again at 3am, slept until 4 and was fussy the rest of the night.
I am not one to go to sleep at 7pm, but it seems if I do, at least I will get a few hours of sleepChat Icon

My only advice is to just try and grab some sleep for yourself when at all possible!
