well....i did my first injection....and screwed it up! dr b girls PLEASE read :(

i was so nervous about doing my injections for our IUI this month that i didn't read the directions all the way through on the follistim pen. so i dialed it to my dosage and then realized i should've tapped out the air bubbles and pushed a small droplet out like the leaflet says. so i say to DH "can i dial it backward?" and he was like "sure", so....i did....and out came a FULL DOSE of the follistim. OMG i want to cry just writing it we paid out of pocket for the injectables and now a dose is on my bedroom floor.

i have 2 doses left which is fine until my first monitoring appt on tuesday but if my follicles aren't grown and i need more meds.....what will i do?!?! sandra mentioned they have "loaner" injections that patients can use and then "payback"....has anybody here ever had to do that!?!? the thought of shelling out another $700 in a few days makes me want to puke. what should i do? should i email dr. b or leave it alone until tuesday?!

well I am jumping the gun but I recently got my bfp and last month Sandra ordered me a whole bunch of folitism which usually my insurance company wont pay for but this month they did and somehow I ended up with 3 months worth. If you need one of mine I would gladly give it to you. Keep me updated and FM me if you need it. I was keeping it incase things didn't work out this month but I can def spare one :) I live in Massapequa.

Oh, and I would def email Dr.B for piece of mind, I wouldn't be able to stand worrying about it!

If I remember correctly, there is a way to spin the whole pen to the top and then push it down, rather than dialing it backwards and losing a full dose. I know it especially sucks when you pay out of pocket (which I did) but we all make mistakes at some point throught the process. Sending you lost of luck!!!

also i defintely recommend watching the follistim demo on youtube. it totally eased our nerves and now, 3 shots in, DH is a pro

No Problem! We could figure out a meeting spot somewhere on the North Shore that night if you need it or I could always leave it with Dr.B's office if that makes it easier. Let me know what happens and we can figure it out

all of you girls are awesome and already i feel less stupid there's actually BOLD print on the leaflet telling you not to dial backwards.....too bad i didn't read that far. i think i was just so nervous i wasn't thinking clearly. and the thing that's so ridiculous is the injection doesn't hurt AT ALL.

Just ask Sandra for it, dont pay out of pocket, they have plenty of donations, i never paid...she will hook you up, dont worry!!!!
