Well...I'm out
AF showed today...2 days early. IUI #4 was not a success. Don't know what I will do next...not sure if I can do this again. 
DH is very upset....he called the RE's office and wants to meet with the doctor...says we should get all our insurance money back for the 4 failed IUI's. We had a huge fight...all of this on top of DH getting laid off on Wednesday...it's been a terrible weekend so far
Sorry...just needed to vent.

Kim I am so very sorry to hear this. I understand your dh's anger and frustration. I wonder if these Re's would work a bit harder if they knew they wouldn't get paid unless the job was done right. Perhaps they should be treated more like other services.
According to the RE where I go, Rsofny, Dr. San Roman, told me, IUI success rates increase after 4-6 cycles. Personally, I share your dh's frustration.
You go to these doctors, you ask questions and they tell you things like "it's nature". When I asked to explain, why there are eggs, and good sperm count , and this wonderous thing called IUI (that doctors seem to push on their patients.)...why is there NO FERTILIZATION. I was told,....well, unfortunately we aren't 'rabbits' and the human body is very complex....??????? That was the information I received !
Kim, do you chart your temps ? If you don't please, start, I will look over your chart. If your Af showed up early, it could have been that the timing of the IUI was wrong, or that progesterone possibly is low. Both of these reasons can be fixed.
I think if we ban together, we can end up helping each other a lot more than these doctors are willing to.

Again, I just want to tell you that I am sorry too! It is extremely frustrating and we think we are going to take the next month off ourselves. With $$$$ being so tight for the holidays, I am not sure I want to drop $200/$300 at the RE.
It's funny, They told me that the chances got better after 4-6 IUI's also...and I have noticed that by this month they have my injections down to the point where they are getting what they want, but at the same time it's so frustrating to go through this every month and still no BFP.
Anyway, lot's of hugs to you Kim

Have you thought about IVF??
They can help pinpoint if it is a fertilization problem or not, there are different procesdures they can do to determine.

Sorry to hear what you are going through.. I know all of this costs so much money. Now has to be a terrible time to be doing this..But if you have insurance through your job but no IVF coverage NY has a grant through the dept of Health that you may qualify for and I think they pay up to half of the total costs inc meds. Not all clinics are members and can do the grant, they have to meet certain criteria to be a DOH clinic, my dr said such as pregnancy rates, etc. I know LI-IVF has the grant and I think several clinics in the city do too. Good Luck and hopefully things will turn around for you.

I just don't know if we should do 2 more IUI's (insurance wil cover that) or just move on to IVF (no insurance coverage). I'm not sure I can handle the disappointment of 2 more failed IUI's...but I'm scared to find out if the IVF doesn't work either. We are in NJ...so the NY grant stuff doesn't apply.

either, things have to get better!
I'm out also (AF showed Thanksgiving day!) but DH and I have decided to take a break until Jan/Feb 06. I really can't handle the disappointment anymore....
