Went for another sono last night............info + questions
I am 9 weeks 4 days. We got to see arms and legs, I was so giddy!!!!
We found out still no sex permitted ( not that I want to anyway ) but I have placenta previa.
I go to a high risk Dr as well as an ob/gyn. I have MTHFR. I guess the good thing about that is I have already had 4 sonograms since being pregnant :)
So the Dr said that the placenta can move so not to get to worried. No heavy lifting etc.
ANyone else have that?
Also, we are metting with a genentic counselor next week. Based upon my age(36) they are going to review testing options. I am a little nervous about this but going to at least hear statistics etc.
THat's my update for now, thanks for listening

Placenta previa is very common. It can move so you won't know until closer to your DD.
A lot of us (if not most) have seen the genetic counselor. It's a bit intimideting but read post of other girls here and they can guide you through it too.
I suggest talking to your OB after your visit the genetic counselor. We were a bit at lost on what test to do, etc... OB was great and told us our options, etc..

Re: Went for another sono last night............info + questions
I also have placenta previa. Honestly I am surprised they saw it at 9 weeks...they must have an AWESOME sono machine
I am going to my Dr tomorrow to further discuss the implications. One of the things she told me was that I can begin to bleed again at any time if the placenta does not move. She actually told me this so I would not freak out if it happened (which of course now I am freaking that it will happen), but also to let me know that if it does I should go to the ER.
She also told me no lifting, no sex (grrrrrrr, that I did not love) and restrict my bending. Other than minor bouts of bleeding in the first tri I feel fine, so I would not even have known had I not gone for the Level II. I have another sono scheduled at Madonna Perinatal to see if it has moved. I will get that one done at 28w.
The other thing we discussed is a c-section. Of course if the placenta does not move I will need a c-section, there is no way around that. However since genetically I have blood & bleeding issues in my family, we are considering having one anyway so that I do not get contractions that can cause bleeding. The truth is the placenta does not actually "move" and a bit of it is almost always going to remain near the opening of the cervix, which can lead to late-term bleeding. That is what I think we will discuss tomorrow.
I will advise you NOT to go to webMD....they only print the .0001% worst case scenario. Scared the sh!t out of me & the reality is 95% of the time it corrects itself.

Thanks for the post and the heads up ladies.
The sono machine @ my high risk Dr's office is SO CLEAR.
I am not going to do much research for fear of scaring the crap out of myself.
As far as the genetic couseling one of my high risk dr's wa recommendig the CVS or an ammnio. I really need to learn more and had dh look some stuff last night. I am a little intimidated.
Thanks for the info- hope your placentas move as well
ETA- plase anyone else- feel free to share commments

I think I have placenta previa as well and they told me this at 6 weeks, is that possible?? Perhaps he just assumed it was that because I had spotting...now I'm not sure. My spotting stopped a week ago so I'm hoping for the best!!
