The doc said everything looked good but I have placenta previa. I didn't really like him, cause he didn't explain. Just said no heavy lifting or sex for 3 weeks. The sono tech said that it usually corrects itself as the uterus expands. Anybody else been told this? I'm 12 weeks.

Re: Went for my ultrascreen yesterday

I had marginal placenta previa in the beginning as well. By the time I was in my 6th month, it had corrected itself. Basically it is when your placenta is covering, in either part or in whole, your cervix. There are three different kinds: marginal, partial and full (I think). As the baby grows your placenta should move up and that is how it corrects itself. I wouldn't let it worry you too much but I would listen to your doctors advice. Chat Icon

Dont worry to much about it...there are a lot of ladies on here with some degree of placenta previa...

I learned at my Level II that most cases do correct themselves. As the uterus expands it takes the placenta with it and most move away from the cervix...At just 12 weeks there is plenty of time for yours to move...

Yes, this was the same thing they told me. I had partial placenta previa at 13 weeks (I found out at the U/S also) and by the Level II (20 weeks) it was gone. The only thing was they did not say there was a time limit on the pelvic rest.

me too, although the Dr. seems to think mine will be 100% corrected at 23 weeks. I'm also on pelvic rest.
