went shopping yesterday...
i bought 3 tank tops, 1 dressy/fun top - non maternity but i bought it in an XL so i can wear through summer since its a sleeveless babydoll thing? and 2 work shirts. Pants=O... i am having the WORST time finding pants and its SOO depressing - i ended up crying last nite. My DH is sweet and tried to "console" me telling me i sell myself short and he loves the way i look etc... i'm not fat - i'm pregnant but the mirror does not lie. honestly my legs are chunky - my thighs are chunky and i'm 5'3 and HATE the way the pants look. I tried on jeans and wanted to puke.... what am i going to do!
thanks for letting me vent

i went to Target in Brooklyn and they had NOTHING so yesterday i went to Staten Island for vicinity and tried the Target there and they had no pants. Either its the time of year or i have the worst luck?
I already have 1 pair of pinstripe/ankle pants from Motherhood for work and a pair of black slacks from Mimi that are sort of like trousers but i wanted a different color etc... (mimi's were $78 !) i need clothes for work
i tried on Gap jeans and seriously wanted to scream - you'd think this kid is coming out of my legs - SOO frustrating

Re: went shopping yesterday...
Hang in their. You are still kinda in the early phase for maternity pants. With my first I wasn't in maternity pants until I was 20 weeks and that was only a pair of jeans and I was full blown maternity pants at around 23 weeks. This time I started around the same times. You are still probably in the inbetween phase which is so frustrating. The pants that lasted me through those 5 months were ones that I purchased at NY & Co. They have an elastic waist band in the back (they are the pull up kind). I highly recommend them for work. They come in all sorts of colors, all work appropriate. Plus since you will be pg mostly in the summer you can get away with summer dresses, skirts and shorts.

I am not a big fan of Kohls but I have to admit they do carry cute maternity clothes. The prices were reasonable and they had a decent selection. I was able to get some capris and work pants there along with some cute summer tops. Maybe give it a try if you have one local to you.

Re: went shopping yesterday...
I actually have the opposite issue...My legs are thin..and Im fairly tall at 5'8"...Ive got boobs and belly and the arm thing...I look like an ostrich....
Im OK with Tshirts and tank tops but a "real shirt" just isnt working out for me.

Re: went shopping yesterday...
You should just try wearing regular yoga pants or black gym pants with longer shirts. I don't know how dressy you have to be for work but those are the most comfortable pants for me & they still look ok b/c they're black.
I'm only 5' 1" & it's been hard for me to find good maternity jeans. I did find some at old navy that I liked.
BTW, we saw your pics & your legs did not look chunky at all.

Re: went shopping yesterday...
DH & I have been having the same conversation every time I get dressed. I'm 5'1" and gaining weight in my legs too. So far the pants that I like are these gap demi-panel cropped pants. I cant find them in black but they have them in khaki and navy-blue and are roomy in the thighs but not so big that you look ridiculous. They not a super-dressy material but I think they're dressy enough that you can get away with them in the office and I think they actually look cute. Good luck! I almost cant wait for the full-fledged belly to just get here already bc this in between phase is killing me
