Went to a baBy shower and...

.. one of the gifts that i saw was really cool. It was a baby wipe warmer. I didnt know they had these types of things. Did anyone put this on their registries?

I wouldn't suggest it. The last thing you need is your baby getting used to warm wipes. When you're changing their diaper away from home, you may find yourself up sh1t's creek (literally) as they scream & squirm away from a room temperature wipe.

Re: Went to a baBy shower and...

I registered for it with DD and got it. It was nice at first, but after a while, the wipes started to dry out, and I would have to keep adding a little bit of water to keep them moist....I don't think I will use one with this next baby.

Re: Went to a baBy shower and...

I heard it's nice for the baby's bottom...

but also heard that it could be dangerous because a warm, wet place can breed bacteria.

I registered for it and have one - I will give it a try anyway!!

Re: Went to a baBy shower and...

I had not heard of them until my friend had a baby 2 yrs ago. The thought is good, but I don't personally see it as a necessity (as my SIL does--she HAD to buy one for my other SIL b/c as she said "She'll need it"-from the one w/ no kids--whatever). It's nice, but I won't be registering for one.

Yes, it is just one of those thing that the baby product brands come up with and try to convince you you absolutely need! You don't!

Why would you need to warm them anyway? It's not like they are kept in the refrigirator...

I did not register for one, they seem like a fire hazzard to me and unnecessary to boot.

I have one that I used with DS and will use again with this next baby too. It just feels good. But I never had a problem when away from home and using regular cool wipes.

Edited for spelling

Registered for it, got it and returned it.... I never used the thing bc it was a waste of money. You have to keep this pad in the container moist or the wipes will dry out. Not worth the time IMO. I just kept the wipes in the palm of my hand for a few seconds to take the chill off.

Re: Went to a baBy shower and...

This sounds cool, but I have heard from many new moms that it is the MOST unnecessary thing to buy/register for.

Re: Went to a baBy shower and...

I don't find the regular wipes to be all that cold. And I have heard that some dry out the wipes so that's not good either. It was a cool thing when I first heard about it but after thinking more, I realized it was certainly not a "must have".
