were adopting a 2nd dog!!
So we decided to adopt a 2nd dog. we have a 9 year old pug who has been very unhealthy but recently doing better. (bought him at a pet shop long before I knew any better 9 years ago)
We moved into our 1st house a little over a month ago and max has been sad since we were previously staying with DH's parents and he had a buddy all day, now he doesn't. we have been looking on petfinder.com and plan to go out to a few shelters this weekend.
we really want to get a shelter dog because there are way to many great dogs that need homes! reading their little blurbs on petfinder makes me tear up! I wish I could adopt them all!!
Any advice? it has to be good with kids because we plan to have them and it has to be good with other dogs since we have max. anything else?
I'm so excited!!

yeaaaa to shelter dog or rescue.
I did a lot of searching b4 I found my 2nd dog.
I constantly looked @ dogs online. Petfinder.com is awesome. I went to my local Shelter and toured the available dogs every week. Speak to the people there, tell them what your looking for ~ fill out application to keep on file so when the "perfect" dog/pup comes in they will call you.
There a millions of dogs out there that need good caring homes, you can spend hours online just searching. Glad your taking this route instead of buying from pup mill or breeder.

We got our 2nd dog out at Bide A Wee in Westhampton. It was so worth the ride. I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEE PUGS!! I don't have any but they are one of my favorite breeds to train. (I love a good challenge) LOL You might also want to look into a specific breed rescue organization. I know their screening process can be really extensive, but you might have some luck there.
