Were any of you ladies smokers before becoming pregnant.......

then quit to start again after their birth?????or have you quit for good now??? just curious as i was a smoker and did quit once we started TTC i havent smoked since but still have strong urges at times to smoke again. is anyone else having the same problem???its funny how i am almost 9 months PP and just getting these cravings again

I quit almost 3 years ago. I did it when we started to TTC DD #1.
I was fine with not smoking up until I had DD #2 5 months ago... For whatever reason the urges got so bad. So one day I lit a cigarette and tried to smoke it - It made me so sick that I threw up. I am so happy that happened!! Now when I think about a cigarette I remember throwing up.

Yes, I also quit almost 3 years ago when I found out I was pregnant with DD #1. I never smoked while I was pregnant either time but in between pregnancies (1 year), I had maybe 5 social cigarettes. I know I will never "go back."

Most recently, at a wedding in July, I had 2 cigarettes and like JRG, threw up promptly when I got home (although the 3 large glasses of red wine could have contributed ). Thinking of that still turns me off smoking.

I have to say though, my DH and I had a couple of beers at the Coney Island Irish fair this weekend, and I saw some smokers and longed for one. I really *did* love smoking. Ahhh...those were the days!

I was. I actually quit before my wedding (10/13/06). I hadn't had the urge to smoke, but last weekend I found myself wanting one. However, I didn't feed into it. I didn't think I would ever crave it again, especially because when I was PG I HATED when people smoked around me.

Yes, this Nov. will be 2 years. I do still have cravings once in awhile, especially before I was pregnant again and would have a couple of drinks. The craving are so controllable that I just wait a couple of minutes for them to pass. I would never want to have to quit again so I will never pick up another cigarette. Plus, I can't stand the smell now.

I quit smoking while I was pregnant and slowly, little by little, went back after Jake was born...but I was smoking very little, no where near what I used to smoke. I only smoked for a few months and then quit again. It's so worth it. Jake never saw me smoke and I never wanted him to - that was my main motivation.

I quit before I became Pregnant, Didnt smoke while Pregnant but have had a few since he's been born.

I will not smoke ever in front of DS or near him, and its only once in a blue moon.

Its more out of stress or when I have had some drinks ...

After DD was born I began having some SERIOUS cravings for a cigarette. I still get them quite badly but everytime I think of stopping to get a pack or have "just one" I look at DD and so far she has been enough to get me through the urges. I just hope this continues for me! If you ever feel the need to b!tch to a former smoker or just someone to get you through the cravings - just FM!

I was/am a smoker. I would quit every time I found out I was pregnant and thought I wouldn't go back but after the 1st month of the baby being born I would start again. However I don't let anyone smoke in my house and I really don't smoke to much. I won't buy a pack I will just take a couple from dh. I would say I probably smoke about 5 a day. Before kids I use to smoke about 1/2 pack a day.

I quit once I found out I was pregnant and that was last March and haven't gone back. BUT, I do get cravings all the time.

i quit when i was pg with DD. I smoke a few cig's after she was born, and never went back since. When i was a few months PG with DS (7 years later) i craved cigs and even drempt that i smoked.
I still havent gone back, and never will.
