Were the previous owners of your house SLOBS?!
I am amazed at how disgusting the people who owned this house were!! Plus they did really weird stuff, like only put molding on the wall where there was furniture!
I am just wondering how many others have had this experience?

EVery house my Dad ever bought was in such condition. He was very handy and would want to do it all over himself anyway and he was always able to get a very low price.
When he bought his last house in 1981 the metal shelves in the refrigerator were sooooo dirty he tried to power wash them Didn't work!!! He had ZERO money to replace the fridge for a while so he had to spray paint them. He must have put ten coats on them. Seriously

Lazy and cheap would be my description. Some of the molding had one nail in it to hold the whole thing, I sweep and hit it and it falls off. They put wallpaper and border on everything even the closets. They never upgraded anything in this house in the the 30 years they lived here unless they had to and if they did they did it the cheapest way possible!

She wasn't a slob per say (she was an older divorced lady), but some of the old cheapy door had holes in them from being punched; she painted before selling, and didn't move the furniture, so when she finally moved out, we saw where all the furniture was against the wall because it was different colors!!! We were forced to paint then!

Not slobs, but they did have questionable taste- sponge painting almost EVERYWHERE! And other things that DH and I would look at and scratch our heads. Like they painted over the tile in the bathroom.

YES! When my friends stopped over the day we closed, my friend almost threw up the way they left the bathroom..DIRTY, soap still in the holder...gross. A week later DH and I saw them in home depot and they were complaining about how messy their new place was left

the first house, no....but this one...hell yes! Ewww! The best was when we pulled up the master bedroom carpet (immediately after moving in) and the carpet pad was covered in mold! She never properly cleaned her carpet or opened the windows in the house (neighbors told us) so after the rug was cleaned (from her being sick) it never dried right!

No one lives in our home we are buying currently - but the seller was there recently to remove furniture and stuff, and they had workers in the house installing a new banister and they left the house really clean for us. They even vacuumed.

for the most part the place was clean,
things that were left dirty was caked grease on part of the oven and cabinets.. ( battled the oven yesterday) and the cabinets are still a work in progress....and soap was left in the shower holder in both bathrooms....
but the rest of the place was very clean.

Wow...sounds like my house.
I have the worst mold in my shower because they did not smooth out the caulk They decorated with nice items (great mouling, ceiling trim, etcA) but nothing is lined up correctly and there are nail holes in everything. ...just lazy

Mine not only were filty people but they also took the cheap fast fix way out of a lot of things.
When I went to paint the pantry I realized that they painted over contact paper to cover a hole in the wall instead of re sheetrocking it.
The lower level of the house has peel and stick tiles on it and they put them down around where the couch was and around the island and counters. We realized when we were handed the keys and the couch was gone that half the tiles were missing. He was like oh that is no problem i saved the extras in the garage and they still sell them at home depot incase you need more...Also when they installed the kitchen counter the screws that they used werent driven straight into the wood they must have gone in at an angle b/c they stick out the front of the cabinet but I didnt realize that until I cleaned the counters and and sliced my finger open on a screw sticking out.

Yeah. We had to do some major scrubbing when we moved in. I'm also ticked, because one of the previous owners was a smoker and for some reason liked to smoke in the bathroom, because there are burn marks all over the sides of both bathroom sinks. Guess those people never heard of an ashtray

Hmmmnnnn....that's one way of putting it. We bought a handyman AS-IS house. AS-IS they never did $hit to it! The place was falling down, so it was hard to gauge their housekeeping skills. Let's just say it was a good 12 on the skeeve factor.
Oh, but I did find a lovely home made crack pipe stuck up in the range hood when we tore the kitchen apart.
