What a lovely lunch I had today...
So, my coworker and I decided to go across the street to the deli for lunch today for a change of scenery and since it was so nice out.
We get to the deli and all the HS kids are just finishing up and going back to class. We will thank God for this later! My coworker and I grab a table and our food comes. Now, there is a white older man in his 50s who works the counter. There is another white older man who works in the food prep area, I think he is the owner. Then there was an African American young lady I would say is my age (28) who also does food prep. Well, we take 2 bites and I hear one of the men say to her "You're fired!" Then she says You can't fire me bc I quit!! My coworker says Oh they must be joking around and I was like I don't think so! The girl starts to take off her apron and says "give me my paycheck" and the older man locks the register and says no. He brushes past her and all of a sudden she FLIPPED out (I don't know the history behind all this but there's gotta be more to it) and she starts physically throwing things at him. At this point, the customers waiting on line decided to leave and my coworker and I are the only 2 in there to witness this. To stop her from throwing things, the older man grabbed her arms. Well, she continued to fight him and still was throwing things. Then older man #2 decides to step in to break it up. Well, the 3 of them were tumbling around fighting (it was horrible!) and they backed into an entire display of those tall coffee canisters and about 8 of them crashed to the floor. I said thats it, I am calling 911. If I didnt call at that point I was convinced there would be serious injuries!!! I could barely hear the dispatcher I just told here where I was and to get the police there FAST. They came in like 2 minutes and had to break up the fight. They escorted the girl out and my coworker and I had to give statements. We were both shaking - I mean, I hated to witness such a violent act and also, things were literally flying in our direction! Bottles, ketchup, anything she could grab!!
We went back to our office and told everyone what happened. It was only later that I realized how much this bothered me - I mean, it wasn't right of the girl to flip out like that but she obviously just snapped - but what bothered me is also how she must have felt like when she was struggling to get out of the grip of 2 men....she just wanted her $ and to leave...the whole situation was just messed up. I have a feeling she was being harrassed by him and just exploded. She kept saying she was going to press charges and the man said he was going to press charges on her too...I just hope when I go to work on Monday the place isnt burnt down or the windows smashed in - it was that bad!!!
Anyway..thought I'd share. Scary.

Yikes! That is scary! Sorry you had to witness this, but then again, glad you were there to call 911 before things got worse!

Not true they've added more of them...Massachussets being one of them. I'm sure if it was a deli, she was off the books.
Sorry to hear about your lunch. Almost makes you miss that commute?
