What a way to end the week... f this economy!!
My brother just found out everyone in his company needs to take a 20% pay cut. My sil doesn't work - she goes to school part time, and they have 3 kids...
When will it end?!
I'm so thankful to have a job, but this economy makes me feel soo uneasy!!!

wow.. that's terrible. i'm so sorry. I hope there is an end in sight soon- I was watching CNBC and was shocked as to how many companies are laying of 5, 10, 15% or more of their work force! I think Chrsyler is laying off like 25%

My fiance had to take a 10% pay cut as well...after they fired half the company. I was SO angry for him and I made sure to look into the legality of such a thing. And right before the wedding...awesome!!
I'm sorry for your brother...

Goldman Sachs just cut over 3000 jobs. I am offically unemployed.
It's only going to get worse.

Re: What a way to end the week... f this economy!!
I'm sorry
Unfortunately, it is going to get A LOT worse.
I teach a college Eco course and was meeting with one of the professors yesterday. I first saw him a month ago when all of this first hit. He has 30+ years teaching, studying and writing economics.
He said, "It's the WORST numbers he has ever seen in his entire career"
Best case scenario, "It will get much worse but improve by next summer."
Worst case, "Things will get MUCH WORSE and will be bad for three years or so."
Last week my BIL lost his job after 17 years with the company. He has 3 kids, his wife works but she makes a fraction of what he did. They live in WI. My IL's are worried sick.
Three days later, my DH was called into his boss's office, 20% of the company laid off this Monday, the rest had to give back 5% of their salary, office closed w/o pay for 5 Fridays btwn now and the end of the year, commissions will be delayed an additional 90 days out.
My other BIL, Harvard Law and partner in a top Boston Law Firm... his firm will be laying off
Thank God, I went back to work this year and have a recession proof job. Although, contract negotiations next year will not be fun.
It's really, really, really, bad out there. Now is not the time to quit or ask your boss for anything.
It's a lot worse that the recession of the late 80s/early 90's and most poster on this board are too young to really remember it. DH graduated in 90 and it took him two years to find a "real" job.
You will hear a lot more stories and a lot more people WILL be affected, it just hasn't hit yet but the numbers say it's coming.
Expect A LOT of layoffs in every industry by the end of this fiscal quarter
