Around 6-7 months when she started solids but it wasn't much at all. Now she is 9 months and probably has about a cup of water for the whole day. At this point they really just need the BM or Formula. But I will tell you a benefit is that at 9 months DD can drink out of a sippy cup. I never put water in a bottle for her.

4 mos or so... a few sips and and there even earlier. he had poop problems, so i'd give him an oz of water occasionally.

when she started solids at 5 months. she would only drink it out of a regular cup...she didnt get the sippy. now at 6.5 months she does get the sippy and drinks a couple of sips throughout the day.

DD just started solids at 5.5 months and every time I feed her, I offer her the sippy cup.
She doesn't get much out of it yet LOL

I started giving little sips at about 7-8 months, i really saw no need to give before that or to give a lot since she got "water" from my BM

My MIL I insisted I give water instead feeding newborn at night. That was nuts IMO.. but I think once a baby doubles their birth weight I think you can give them as much water as they want between bottles.
I gave it at 2m, my ped said I could give up to 8oz a day between bottles.

At 6 weeks with a little sugar she had major constipation issues. Pediatrician recommended it and it wotked. Now she drinks about 6 oz of water through out the day w/out sugar

I just started giving it to DS. He will be 7 months next week. I give him 1-2 oz in a sippy starter cup. He doesn't get much out yet.

MIL insists on this as well. DS apparently had a sippy of water when she was visiting from HI. Of course I didn't know about this. I've given him some drops from a straw but that's about it.

per the Ped you "can" start when you start solids.
With DD #2 we started solids and water at 3.5 months. She was always eating.
DD#3- solids at 4.5 months and water just recently at 6 months.

I think around 6 months. They LOVE it----especially when I let them drink it right from the water bottle.
